What parts are polishable/ can be chromed etc..

i've seen some people with the water pump housing thermostat housing, etc..
what all pieces out of our engine bay can be polished, or chromed, or powder coated?

chrism 01-24-2009 09:36 PM

anything metal can be polished.....and the plastics can be painted with high quality atomotive paint to look like they are polished metal

yeah, but i'm looking for a list of the non-plastic pieces that i can safely chrome/polish or w/e safely without fear of heat being trapped in etc..

Try searching for threads from RotaryResurrection: Click here:

(advanced search; member name)

He generally powdercoats or paints all of the irons on engines he rebuilds(he is a professional rotary rebuilder).

There is also a thread somewhere - ahhh, just found it: Here --- https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/getreddy2greddys-chrome-powdercoated-engine-parts-164971/

Just did another search & saw you've created another, very similar thread to this one in another section. It is active - with over 70 responses. Why did you start this one?

because its not related to what i asked here.
my other thread is strictly about brake calipers, and my undertaking of apparently being the first to polish them. ( not just paint or chrome them )

thank you very much for the info, an link you gave me though :)

So thus far i've seen.

thermostat housing, front cover, alternator, water pump.

edit: i see you were talking about the enginebay PICTURES thread * cough* PICTURES * cough* it wasnt so much a post asking what i asked here, as just a general " post your enginebay " As throughout the past few weeks, ive been trying to collect ideas that other people have done, to better progress the overall look of my car's engine compartment. generally people have different ideas of whats good looking, and not, so its nice to see people post pictures, rather then waiting 2 weeks for 1 guy to point out the entirly obvious, and another guy to basically say HEY " search ". like i hadn't already.

the word " polish " polished chrome, chromed etc.. at most i got i think 4 pages of results, which i went through, one by one, but i had not found a sure fire list of things that can be polished or chromed.

the link you gave me, i seen when i did my first search, but greddygreddys pictures were not uploaded yet ( as i found it the day the thread was started )

Well, it's a good thing I specifically answered your question before I mentioned that, then.

F.Y.I., your thread that I noted is this one: Engine bay pictures?

Nothing to do with your brake thread.
