Water getting in CF hood vent
 

So I have a seibon TS style hood but ive noticed when hosing or pressure washing it down water is getting into the engine bay, I have the gullys that come with seibons hoods but there not sealed round the edge and let water through so I was wondering how others have dealt with this id prefere not to glue it on as i remove them on track days , so any suggestions would be appreciated.

as long as your not pouring water in your vents with your hose you'll be fine I have the TS hood too and no problems in fact i havent even used the rain gutters until its pouring rain

there is alot or water getting through I try and avoid spraying directly but it still gets in so when I open the hood everything is soaking luckily most are covered by lids but that only protects so much.

I open my hood and spray the bajesus out of it when I clean my engine. I make sure I cover the coils and alternator, but that's it, really.
I wouldn't worry about it.
Plus, there is another thread currently going around about the same topic, answered by users running with vented hoods.

Take the gutters off and make some 2\3mm tall silicone gaskets, let them dry and screw them back in place. It will be a bitch to clean but you'd get the desired effect :)

leave the gutters off. A vented hood with blocked vents is pretty useless.

Then what do I do when it rains taking into account its raining nearly all the time at the minute.

I might try the gasket idea just need to get some rubber sheets from somewhere.

rain falling into your engine bay will do nothing more then work it's way to the ground.. like rain does. There isn't some magical creature in our cars that harm anything if it get's wet. Think about driving a stock car in the rain.. water is sprayed up under a ton more force from the wheels.

I've had my gutters off since I got my hood and have gone through wet weather that made it almost impossible to see the nose of the car with no ill effects.

Im just concerned about the electrical side being an electrician by trade I dont like water and I nolonger have an engine cover so it gets to the alternator but the gasket idea sounds like a solution.

The cars are made to get wet. It's weather, it happens.
I open the hood a couple of times a year and power wash the engine, with it running. While I don't directly spray the alternator, I don't cover anything.

You have no idea its like some dodgy horror film where the water is alive it gets in every where water proof here is a myth like good after sales service company's go on about them but they dont really exist not when tested.

Ive owned my 8 for almost 7months and ive power washed my motor many times without covering anything due to living in west texas of course( 1st two months while the car is running and the rest while the car is off) i have never had any issues with anything, the 8 starts right up and runs strong but keep in mind my motor is stock......
