the RX-8 Concept Car hood.

Shocka 06-11-2004 03:30 PM

personally i liked the Feed hood the best.

but i wud really like something like the Evo8 hood . basic hood with the air vents built in. perhaps the rotor could be the vent.

greene76 06-11-2004 03:54 PM

Mazdaspeed? definately

ings + !!! that thing looks sick ... well on the rx-7 , iono about the 8 tho ..

fd3s777 06-12-2004 12:32 PM

What about this one? I saw this from EVOR's site.

fullets 06-12-2004 05:35 PM

I like the VeilSide hood soo much but... i think its better in carbon fiber or kevlar???

fd3s777 06-12-2004 07:06 PM

It is not Veilside hood. Looks different

fullets 06-12-2004 08:31 PM

Yes I know but, I only say I like the VeilSide much more than that this have ok the first rotor ok but the second is cuted in the corner and I don't like it but it's only my opinion jejejejeje:D

Spazm 06-12-2004 11:02 PM

Feed, then MS

momo stereo 06-13-2004 05:23 PM

Can someone give me an idea of how ong it will be before these hoods are offered and how much...i am about to die here trying to find a carbon fiber vented hood....

thanks

David_M 06-13-2004 06:29 PM

Feed is the sickest. I love that shot of the hood. I wonder how it looks from the front. Any way my vote is for Feed then Ings +1

Rotary Extreme 06-13-2004 07:20 PM

I think the most important quesiton is how much are you willing to spend on such vented hood?

Chuck

AlexCisneros 06-13-2004 08:16 PM

ok, so I'm terrible at photochopping but...

oh, and like Chuck says...Price would have to be right

Chuck any chance you also have something in the works? I'm still getting rave reviews on the CF MS style wing you sold me ;)

mikeb 06-13-2004 11:26 PM

I would pay 500 for ms mirrors
so for a custom hood maybe 800 or 900 hundred unpainted

fd3s777 06-13-2004 11:40 PM

talked to EVOR they will have first carbon fiber vented hood release by end of this month. Price is about $600. I'm trying to see if they willing to do group buy on this.

Landon_Starr 06-13-2004 11:54 PM

That's great for EVOr, but I really don't like that hood that's been posted here. I wouldn't shell out money for it. Now, for the SCOOT, RE Amemiya, or even the MS(?) hood I'd be willing to shell out 600-700 unpainted. If you build it, we will pay.....:D

Pathetic attempt at paraphrasing, but oh well. :)

Seriously, though, feel free to PM me when you have a hood ready to be bought, I have quick access to a body shop and a digi-camera just itchin' to take pics & post 'em up. :)

Rotary Extreme 06-14-2004 01:31 AM

Since Vivid Racing hot-linked most of those photos from our website, you should know we have made those hoods for the 3rd Gen RX-7. We also have the stock style CF hood for the RX-8 already so that means we can custom mold those vents onto the RX-8 hood and make a mold. The ones that can be done are the knight sport style, Scoot style, RE Amemiya AD9 style, and Mazdaspeed style.

I don't want to say anything about prices here because Vivid opened the thread. I don't want to hi-jack it from here even though they are using photos from our website. :D I will open up another thread and post some prices. Thanks.

First I need to get responces from the forum members to see which one is worth selling and producing. Then I give them my hood and they start prototyping. Once that is done the production begins. I'm going to say about 2 months to produce the hoods because they will make a production run of about 20 pieces for the firt run.

Landon_Starr 06-16-2004 12:55 AM

Still waitin' on that thread or a PM, chuck. :)

ANYBODY. Please. I just want a vented hood. :D

I like the EVOR one or the one that AlexCisneros posted.

RogueRX8 06-19-2004 06:26 PM

My choices would be

Mazda speed
ings+
Speed Racers

SMigneco 06-19-2004 08:30 PM

Mazdaspeed.

Can anyone give a ballpark figure on what the price would be?

Also, how much lighter would the hood be than the stock hood?
The stock hood is pretty light as is so, I am just wondering about how many lbs. a custom vented hood would be.

Thanks!

StealthTL 06-19-2004 08:41 PM

Alex.....

I will be buying one that looks just like the 'AlexCisneros" one.....
whoever makes it like that.

That is EXACTLY the design I envision for my '8.....keep the rotor indent, and add aggressive, large ports that shrink towards the windshield!

Awesome!

S

Genom 06-19-2004 09:50 PM

Mazdaspeed or Alex's idea work for me.
