I think it's still better to cut into the stock hood and vent it as opposed to buying a carbon fiber hood. The solution to getting through this....?

1. Theoretically, gut the entire supportive area of the hood until you end up with the the top sheet layer of the hood. It should now look like conventional hoods you see.

2. Lay out a template and according to your wants, proceed to cut up your hood and place the vents where you want them to be placed. Follow the same rules and instructions the S2K owner provided earlier in the thread.

3. Weld in support brackets (IMPORTANT: use aluminum NOT steel to prevent rusting). The support brackets should look like aftermarket hood "exoskeletons". These exoskeletons are usually made by fiberglass and they still stand up to flexing quite well. You just need to strategically place these braces.

4. Add hood pins as a preventive measure.

Even if you pay a professional, this job could probably be done for a few hundred dollars, 600 tops. What do you end up with? Your own custom vented aluminum hood that should be just as structurally sound as aftermarket hoods yet weight LESS than an unmodded, stock hood.
