Far as I can imagine, you'd have to run a new set of wires to a switch inside and directly to the battery. If I'm wrong, sorry. But I don't see any other way since the parking is connected to the head lamp...

thanks for the quick reply. Well the reason why is I have a winning blue rx8. So what i did is put some led blue light in the parking light. It look great by the way. The bad thing is it illegal to have led blue light. So i want to have to option of turning the parking light off when i need to. you know when you're face to face with a patrol car at a stop light.
If anyone could show me which wire to tap into and how, that would be great.
again thanks.

let me tell you about memphis, TN cops. They so lazzy they would hang out a a coffe shop all month till the last 5 days of the month. They will go out and team up with each other to give you any freakin ticket that they could. I'm talking about standing on the other side of the express way shooting their lazzer beam then radio down the street where 5 other unit are waiting to chase you down....... I'm getting mad just thinking about it.

Did you try browsing the fog-light re-wire thread? I thought there was an explanation of some of the wiring in there. I agree with Phantom Menace - you'll likely need a whole new wire from the engine compartment to the passenger compartment and a new switch to separately control your parking lights. If it's worth that much trouble to you.......

totaleclipse 11-28-2006 11:50 PM

I guess you guys are right I might be too much trouble if i have to do it that way. I thought if the parking light and the side marker have the same source and control by the same switch on the steering wheel. I could find a wire under the dash some where and tap into that. I guess it's a little more trouble than that.
by the way anyone know where i can find the electrical layout to the 8's????

Yep, the Mazda wiring manual. :)

I think Rosenthal Mazda has them for a decent price.

So you are worried about blue parking lights and you think that having no parking lights while near a cop is a good idea?

If they are as picky as you say they are they will get you for either offense.

totaleclipse 11-29-2006 09:45 AM

really I don't see the idea behind the parking light. It stay on the whole time. Either if I park at one place with my hand brake up, park at one place with my brake off, or even moving. Plus it's a w5w bulb at the front, so really they can't help any in the dark.
Ok.... here's the stupit question.
What is the reason for that light?

Aipex8 11-29-2006 01:37 PM

Just a regulation. All cars in the US must have either a white or amber forward facing parking light. There are many different setups, a lot of cars have amber parking lights that are tied into the turn signal (the "parking" light blinks when turning). I highly doubt that a cop would notice anything if neither were illuminated while the headlights were on. I'm sure they would notice blue LEDs though.

White LEDs have a bit of a blue tint to them, legal and a cool color.
