It's not. I think the MS bumper is a yellow material. The oem looks like black plastic. I'm pretty sure it's polypropylene for the oem bumpers.

@shifty No, there is no space on the front bumper for the side markers, I think it actually looks much cleaner without them.

@Youwonder They are polyurethane like the OEM bumper.

Hmm, I thought the OEM bumper and the Tsunami were the same material. Tsunami even advertises that fact... but now that I think about it, I think you are right 05rex8... there is a slight difference especially under a lot of heat that the Tsunami one does have a tendancy to sag a bit. Ever since I got the bumper mounted -correctly- it hasn't been an issue. I did just remove the front mesh on mine though, so I'm going to keep an eye for sagging in the middle. If it sags too much then a powder coated mesh goes in instead... sigh.

Anybody looking for a fantastic looking, reasonably priced and durable front bumper can not go wrong with the Tsunami bumper. I am very very happy with it.

shifty 12-30-2009 03:43 AM

was it a spot on fit or did it need some work first

05rex8 12-30-2009 04:42 PM

Pretty much spot on. Just needed to drill holes for the plastic fender liners and stuff.

Hi everyone thanks for the support on the bodykit especially 05Rex8. I have not been on here for a while but I wanted to let everyone know that I will no longer be producing the Tsunami bodykits. I have started a new business and it consumes all of my time. I was only doing this part time and it has come to the point where I cannot spare anytime to package and ship these kits out. I have two more kits in stock which I will only sell as a bumper and side skirt combo. The price is $750.00 plus shipping if anyone is interested please pm and thank you to everyone that has bought one from me I appreciate all your business.
Rodney

Sorry to see you go Rodney. Thanks for your great service. I guess now I will have a rare body kit, which is fine by me. :)

Best wishes to you and your new business!

Ack!! I'm half tempted to buy another bumper just in case this one goes for some reason. I love this front bumper. :(

There are both urethane, but not the same. There are basicly 2 types of urethane out there.

You can do the simple "burn" test and you'll see.

I had to paint a stock rear bumper and the tsunami at the same time,
and went the extra step of pre priming them for my paint system.

Fitment is very good considering its aftermarket.

Sadly I didnt get the sides when I had extra cash, now I guess I'm stuck!
I've been thinking of the Ings, but they look kinda plain :(

This is the worst place Id say for fitment. I added some 2 part to make it perfect. if the picture looks off,
its just a oddity.

shifty 02-06-2010 12:42 PM

ok got my tsunami kit yesterday but I was wondering if anyone has any tips for fitting or maybe reinforsing weak points.

pdxhak 02-06-2010 12:44 PM

I'm sure 05rex8 will chime in.

shifty 02-07-2010 05:13 AM

cool

mscamp02 02-07-2010 08:18 AM

the worst point is going to be on bottom where the undertray is, I would say if your worried buy the solid one piece aluminum one that race roots sells.

As far as fitting the only thing that took me more than two minutes was the side marker area (had to widen the hole for the screw)

maybe 05rex can add some more here

Sounds interesting but I cant seem to find it on there website is it some sort of special order.

mscamp02 02-07-2010 08:52 AM

hmmm maybe I have vendors mixed up. Let me check

mscamp02 02-07-2010 08:53 AM

Just checked....think I have my vendors mixed up but I know there is one that is made that will replace the 3 piece plastic one that is standard on the rx8...I think it was about 100 to 150 dollars

shifty 02-07-2010 08:57 AM

I think you where right it is race roots I found the post advertising it but I think its a special order bit pricey 2 maybe I can rig somthing up myself.

mscamp02 02-07-2010 09:06 AM

yea that would just be a long term thing to help prevent sagging over time anyways

shifty 02-07-2010 09:10 AM

Il have to put my thinking cap on, is that the only point where it sags

mscamp02 02-07-2010 09:11 AM

I dont have sagging issues yet but I would imagine that would be the only place where it would have problems

shifty 02-07-2010 09:17 AM

cool

Also has anyone refitted the headlight washer jets with this bumper.

05rex8 02-27-2010 12:08 PM

^yes that is normal
