here are two pics of mine from awhile ago. not the best but whatever.

Looks awesome! Im actually looking for pictures of the emblems themselves (the backside of them) so I can see what type of clips are on them so I can remove them without breaking them. Can someone please post a pic of the BACK of the emblems?

Here are the requested pictures... Just went to the shop today. They're buying me new rims so I guess thats good news. Sorry it took so long... Just been tied up in all this BS:

These were the OEM Badges that I had removed. The RX-8 Logo was just a sticky with no holes. Three on the "Mazda" badge and another two on the "M" logo. Hope this helps. Good luck with the de-badging! It really adds a nice touch to the car :P

Thanks for the pics kainis2k. Theyre not even clips which is good, I dont have to worry about breaking them. I will post pics after I take them off and smoke the emblems.

How are you going to handle the 5 holes in the trunk lid? Fill em and paint the whole trunk?

no problem... I find it hard to find good information in posts anymore... I wish there was more discussion about changing out headlight bulbs that would have just told me to remove the front bumper and remove the housing rather than reaching in through the wheel well and breaking a platic bracket (i fixed it tho). In general, those are my pet pieves... I try to be helpful as much I can to make it easier on the next guy... Good luck with the de-badging!

Thats what I used to get through the 3M double sided tape but now the plastic pins are what wont budge. Are there clips on them or what? :banghead:

ЯX-8 09-07-2008 10:27 PM

Don't be scared to yank on it a little bit, the clips won't break. They aren't that fragile, just take your time with it and in no time you'll have them off!

Hey guys good thing someone posted this up. If i went to a body shop and asked them for a debadge how much would they pull out you think? Im talking about the MAZDA RX-8, the emblems front and back

Blackmobile R3 09-07-2008 11:22 PM

Rates vary from shop to shop. Since the holes need to be filled and the trunk lid repainted, probably 200-300$

you have the mazda rx-8 badge up front?

debadging the front costs about the same as a repaint for the front.

dhan 09-08-2008 01:51 AM

Would refilling be really hard? considering i have the original paint itself up in my closet.

dhan 09-10-2008 01:44 PM

So the guy i asked quoted me "300" for front and back is that a good deal?

Blackmobile R3 09-10-2008 03:37 PM

it depends on how good their work is and how theyre going to fill it. Ideally the holes should be welded shut to avoid cracking in the future like body filler can do.

ЯX-8 09-10-2008 05:50 PM

If you know how to weld you could fill in those holes yourself (trunk) and save some money.

dhan 09-10-2008 06:01 PM

Yeah i asked and it took him some time to say what he was going to do with the car. I think hes not that great but still knows a little about it.

Rotr8 09-10-2008 07:15 PM

^^^ Also the front will be filled most likely with filler compound, and may look nice when you first get it but as time goes by the compound may sag...

Sorry for the overdue reply... My grandfather passed and I was out of the country... I wish I could tell ya, I have them taken out by a professional. I'll text him and see what he has to say about it though and get back to you this weekend if not by mid next week. :P

ShinkaTeen 11-13-2008 05:58 PM

i Need to know... i've been itching to go pry those things out RIGHT NOW!!!...

but i want to make sure paint doesnt come off when i rippem off -_-.

cheeto 11-29-2008 10:48 AM

want to do this.

what to fill holes with?

no shop for me.

kersh4w 11-30-2008 10:24 PM

i'd look for some little plug and paint it with touchup paint.

always.anthony 03-02-2009 10:16 PM

thread resurrection i'm going with a gray and black theme right now

black oem rims
tint
no one steal this: black lights for interior, footwells too
maybe black under glow
smoked tails n clear corners and i don't know for head lights n fogs yet

but for that set up, what do you guys think would look better? debadge, or painted badges black? (front and back)
