tinting ?

Did anyone ever have a problem with vertical scratches when tinting their 8. its like hit or miss with them because i didnt have them on my acura but my gf got them when i tinted her car and it looks horrible. the installer told me it was from the rubbers in the door and if it happens it happens. is he right or should i find a new installer and if the latter is my choice, can anyone recommend a tint shop offering a lifetime garantee in the NYC or northern NJ area?

you shouldn't have scratches on the tint. i say find another installer.

I had my dealer throw it in with the purchase, the tint came out excellent, I was worried because some bubbles were in the tint at first but after a week or 2 they went away.

Definately find a new installer.

Lazy tinter excuses:
1) It is unavoidable
2) If it happens, it happens
3) That's the way it's supposed to be
4) It was fine when you left, the bubbles formed on your watch
5) I'm not a Mazda certified tech, so I can't take your door panels apart
6) Those are dust particles or lint from my paper towels trapped in there, I have to use paper towels and can't tint in a vacuum--so...

*All these and more can be heard by street corner tinters who make a living by tinting 6-7 cars a day. A good tinter is usually booked for weeks and does about 2-3 cars a day. That is, you 'd have to make an appointment and wait vis-a-vis just drive up with inexperienced or lazy tint guys.

I had my tint redone. Believe it or not, not twice but THREE times over! The first two was the same guy. It sucked the first time so I took it back and heard all 6 excauses plus many, many more. It all boiled down to STANDARDS. In the end, I booked an appointment with a slightly more expensive, yet well worth it, shop. Now my tint is FLAWLESS, sans the dot matirx in the rear window--that is, however, unavoidable! ;)

Moral: Save yourself some time and money by doing some homework on shops and going to a more experienced shop, may cost more initially, but you'll never worry and have problems. Don't go back to the same B/S shop unless you are sure they WILL fix the problems.
