Tinted with VHT a while back, Need help to make it Gloss
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, me and my friend tinted my tails with VHT night shade during the summer, overall i liked the job. But now that i look at it im getting tired of the sort of rough look, it came out a little grainy.
I wanted to know how to make it have a somewhat glossy finish. Ive searched and asked and ive heard all kinds of different things, but hopefully someone here can give me a strait answer. We used strait VHT no clear coat because when we originally tested out the clear coat it made it even more grainy so we skipped on that. If not its fine I like my tails either way. just me being a lil picky heres some pics: Attachment 249507 Attachment 249508 Attachment 249509 any help would be great. thanks guys! |
wet sand and then clear

wet sand and then clear?
|
what grain?
|
This was discussed a couple months back with someone stating pretty much exactly what you did. He was complaining about the finish being a little rough and grainy. I believe he sanded it down with an extra fine grit of paper and put on a couple coats of clearcoat. Run a search.

yeah ive looked around but just some talk, no like before after pics. i guess i'll experiment and take pics. keep you guys posted

okay thanks so basically wet sand it clean it all off then a couple of clear coats?
|
i would probably do a quick high grit sand on the clear coat too to get rid of any impurities
|
yeah i was thinking the same, i'll try and do it soon and get some pics up, thanks guys

you just don't know how to paint, i did mine and it came out clean and glossy, no drips no sanding and no clear coat, its all technique.

how is it a technique? lol you simply spray, i did light coats just like everyone else ive seen, i just skipped out on the clear coat and sanding. I had no drips or bubbles or anything
|
If you do light coats as if you were spray painting a model or something, then you get a grainy finish. If you do wet coats like you're supposed to do for high gloss clear finishes, you get the shiny finish.
|
wet coats = drips in the paint
|
yeah i was afraid of drips so i didnt do super heavy but then again i didnt do like 100 super light coats

Crappy phone pick, but you can see the glossyness |
Cant see shit. I find it hilarious that people tint their taillights.
|
