Taking apart rear tail lights... very temping

So I have searched and searched but I have yet to see a diy or even someone that has disassembled an rx8 tail light, but I have just did the headlight disassembly and it wasn't really that hard, and I am about to go look at the tail lights I am just wondering if anyone has done this please step forward, if not be prepare for a diy thread soon or me throwing a serious fit about my tail lights being broke. I just sealed the back with weather stripping and figured that would get rid of the moisture problem, and it did, but there is dirt everywhere now. Plus I want to do some painting inside of them. So if no one steps up soon... wish me luck.

How do I Disassemble a Tail Light on a Mazda RX-8? | eHow.com

If you're looking to actually get inside the light, I don't think you can without heating it up and removing the glass part. I've done this to a headlight from an Accord. The glass part is adhered to the housing, and the housing did _not_ separate otherwise. I boiled some water, tossed it in my sink, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then a screwdriver peeled it right off. Pick up some more adhesive from Lowes and put it back together when you're done.

Here's the right link, not the one above: DIY: Open Headlights - Taillights. If you need a pair to practice on, rather than messing up what you have, you could buy mine. Driverside has a cracked lens, passenger side has melted housing at the brake light socket.

good luck with breaking the sonic seal(weld)...
these lights are not assembled the same way the headlights are

Yes actually get into the assembly. Rotr 8, how much would you sell a tail light for? If you have no use for it/them could I just pay shipping? I would just want one to tear hell into them so idk if I really want to pay anything.

The seams are "welded" together with vibrations that binds the plastics together. This pretty much makes the plastic all one peice. I am thinking maybe using a dremel tool with a mini grinding wheel, cutting the lens off and then sealing it back on with epoxy, or jb weld, then go over all of that with sealant? Thoughts on this?
