+1. Stupid Alucard first makes me buy new wheels, and now he's going to make me spend a bunch of money on lights. Do you want me to have to find a 2nd job?!?!

But really, looks great. I still don't have the balls to take off my bumper, and I doubt I ever will, so I don't expect I will be doing this. Especially because I already put 6K lights in my fogs and while they don't look great, they look good enough.

Ok, I got a few questions about the kit and installation.

In the kit you get everything that you need. You do not need to replace any wiring harnesses.

As their website states:

"Your Kit includes everything you need to get real HID lights. You get the HID bulbs, wiring harness, ballasts and igniters. Our Kits are designed for direct plug and play. We give you extra long protection, and the smallest ballast of any kit available. There is no wire cutting, no custom fitting and no stress. Just plug in each connection. No cutting or splicing of wires is required. Fits all vehicle types and comes with everything needed to convert to HID!"

Here is a quick DIY on the install.

**I will take my bumper off and take pics of everything this weekend**

01: Take off front bumper
02: Put new bulbs into Fog Light housings **make sure the are all the way in and secured**
03: Plug in Red and Black wires to the original bulb harness
04: Plug in both remaining wires to the ballast
05: Test lights make sure the light up... if they don't light up, don't worry just reverse the red and black wires in the original harness
06: Once the lights light up, tape off the red and black wires with electrical tape
07: Find spot to mount the ballasts
08: Once spot is found I zip tied up and zip tied the wires
09: Put front bumper back on
10: Viola your done.

This is what I ordered for my fog lights (H11):

And this is what I ordered for my headlights (D2S bulbs are +$15 extra):

http://vvme.com/product/detail-20026.html

What type did you get for both? The H1 H3 etc etc

Alucard 07-24-2009 02:06 AM

Chris, they would look hot in your MX-5 You better get them...

YeahYeahYouWere: Hehehehe :lol2: I guess that makes me evil... But taking your bumper off if very very simple. I have it down to about ten minutes....lol

SympleMan523:  what are you asking? The bulb code for the fog lights is H11 - and the bulb code for the head lights (low beam-existing HID) is D2S.

Well as shady as that site seemed (no confirmation email, tracking number, contact) my package arrived yesterday. Less than a week so I'd say that's pretty good for $21 shipping...geeze. Haven't opened the package yet though, so I can't confirm the condition.

I got mine in last night... and DAMN!! they are bright as hell! The ballast I installed on the driver side has a whine to it so I'm going to call and ask about that. I ended up drilling two holes in the support where the oil cooler bracket hangs and mounted the ballasts on the backside of the beam. You can barely see them from the front and there is fairly easy access by pulling the fender liner away. I'll take pics tonight when I get home from work... and it's darker.

You will have a whine from the ballast when you turn them on but it will be there only for about a min.

Jedi54 08-01-2009 07:58 PM

hmmm, more money to spend...

I8U 08-01-2009 08:43 PM

I have had a set of these installed in my base headlight for over 2 yrs now...still running strong. I think I'm gonna have to buy a foglight kit and do this mod also.

I don't know man.. I'm driving all the time between Lewisville and Dallas. 35 635 121 maybe if you go on those roads you will see me.

alz0rz 01-10-2010 12:08 AM

Lord ET, are those 4300k or 6000k?

Also, could you or Alucard link to the exact product you bought? I see a STANDARD and a 12v/55w H11 kit.. which to get?

alz0rz 01-10-2010 07:30 PM

So I went ahead and bought a 6000k HID H11 kit from VVME.

9krpmrx8 01-10-2010 07:36 PM

I will be ordering one soon too. Which one did you get? Oh, and LORD ET, smaller pics please.

SEANMAC777 01-14-2010 02:13 PM

Which kit off of their site did you order? It offers 4 different ones, do I want "Standard" "Slim" or "55w" ? Also, I have 4300k's for my high beams and they are amazingly bright. The local autocross club does a night race and they were a big advantage :D

Alucard 01-16-2010 02:19 AM

I cannot speak for anyone else but I had ordered the standard kit. The ballasts that come with the standard kit are small enough already, so there was no need to spend extra money.

Alexb 01-16-2010 02:27 AM

Hey, okay I have already converted to HID a while ago, (8000K) but just bought 6000K as I like them better. I just came across this thread and I think I want to do my fogs too. But I've got the headlight ballasts located behind the oil coolers in that little bracket. Where did you mount these ballasts? I'm afraid I'm not gonna have a good place.

Where did you guys mount yours?

edit: oh.. you need oil cooler screens haha

Darkpoison187 01-27-2010 01:15 PM

This maybe a dumb question. But here it is did you have to change/add any fuses or is the power usage near oem spec on the fogs? i just want to have everything I need for when i do the swap next week

Lord ET 01-27-2010 01:29 PM

I didn't change a thing

Darkpoison187 01-27-2010 02:19 PM

Thanx

skrubol 01-27-2010 04:04 PM

HID's should actually use less current than stock bulbs (unless you use 50W HID's.)
