RX8 Footwell Lighting (Easy Way Under 15 Minutes) (Side/Main Light Operation)
Well, after searching RX8 Forums and seeing different ways all arsing about with horrible looking wiring looms, I decided to do it the way I did it on my wifes Type R... and this takes 15 minutes. Connect to your Glovebox Lighting system so whenever you have the side or main beam on, they illuminate :smoker:
Have the following which cost £19.99 for the LED's: - Pliers
- LED Kit I Use THIS ONE which consists of:
- 2 x Flexible strips of 9 RED, BLUE or WHITE miniature ultra bright LEDs thatwill provide an even amount of lighting complete with self adhesive 3m backing.
- 2 x Scotch locks to splice the power connection so no wires are cut.
- Take the glove box out (squash it in from sides pulling the two top rollers out, then unhook bottom arm/hook) - 1 Minute
- Take glove box bulb out and pull the connector out of the back - 2 Minutes
- You have two wires, RED/BLACK (-ve) and RED/YELLOW (+ve).
- Connect the LED WHITE/BLACK (-ve) wire to the Glove Box RED/BLACK (-ve) wire using the supplied Scotch Locks/Pliers - 2 Minutes
- Connect the LED WHITE ONLY (+ve) wire to the Glove Box RED/YELLOW (+ve) wire using the supplied Scotch Locks Pliers - 2 Minutes
- Feed one of the LED sets through behind the dashboard (1 minutes work) and stick where ever you like :aroused:. Stick the passenger one where ever as well :aroused: - 5 Minutes
Hope this makes this modification easier for people... don't go arsing about with the wiring looms etc if you just want it on side/main beams. Fine for possibly people who want foot well linked to door opening, but with the RX8 being so pitch black, why not do both!
