Removing Splash Guards?

One of my Splash Guards is chipped, and I was already thinking of maybe just removing them all instead of replacing it.

It looks like they're just held on by screws, and that seems to be what I've read here.

True? No more complicated than taking out those screws? Any other downsides, such as exposing screw holes to rust, etc.?

These are what I mean (and no, my car is NOT that dirty lol, it's the darn flash exposing every speck of dust!)

They're held on by the screws, AND 3M tape underneath.

Unure if it uses exiting holes, or if that top screw is a sheetmetal screw.

If you decide to get rid of them; would you take $30 for them shipped?

I'm thinking of permanently removing mine, as one has been knocked off more than once by auto-x cones. However it looks like the rubber rocker panel trim is too short when the splash guard is left off. Is there a trim piece that goes in place?
