Quality of body kits. any one had any experience?

Has any one had any experince with Extreme Dimensions bodykits the urethane ones? VFiber urethane? VIS racing? KBD urethane? I found these several that make replics of Mazdaspeed but no way i want to pay 3 grand for bodykits rather get a turbo. would any one recommend any of those companies?

Jedi54 04-26-2011 03:57 PM

they're all replica pieces of crap. No.
gotta pay to play...

Sifu 04-26-2011 03:59 PM

^ Exactly what he says :)

I dealt with reps before and they are pretty bad.

monchie 04-26-2011 08:51 PM

If it's cheap and it fits, no problem with me ;)

RID3R 04-27-2011 09:25 PM

Does anyone know of any good body kits that look like mazdaspeed but dont cost so much?

dezau 04-29-2011 11:26 PM

yeah, used mazdaspeed kits lol

yiksing 04-29-2011 11:39 PM

^^lol, seriously get the authentic mazdaspeed kit if possible. Its really good material.

I went thru a set of replica, you can surf on it. On the genuine kenstyle kit now, from certain angle i can spot some wave but its perfect fit. I'm waiting for some free time to get my new autoexe kit on.

RID3R 04-30-2011 12:39 AM

If i get the money i would happily =) problem is i dont have it lol:Freak_ani

dezau 04-30-2011 12:45 AM

like i said buy it used, i wasn't kidding. i sold mine for 700 well granted it was slightly damaged, but still. it's cheaper than 1k + painting now that mazda has discontinued painted ones

RID3R 04-30-2011 01:05 AM

700 for the whole kit?

dezau 04-30-2011 01:26 AM

quoted for truth.

I doubt you don't have the money, you, along with hundreds of other people on here who insist on ruining such nice cars with utter crap like cheap wheels, cut springs, and God awful bodykits just to name a few things, probably don't have patience. Saving up and purchasing legit parts and doing things the right way as opposed to "I gotta' have it now!!11" way requires patience, and it does cost more because as is the case with most things in life, better quality tends to be more expensive, as it generally costs more to make, there's higher costs involved in r&d, and higher grade materials etc. etc.

There is absolutely no excuse for cheaping out your car other than just not having patience, period. Take my car for example, I've been all the way to Sema with it, but it didn't happen overnight, and while I saved a lot doing my own labor with help from friends, it wasn't cheap either. I built my car up over a course of 6-7 years, I even tried a replica kit as well as I simply didn't understand the difference at the time. (it was my first foray into bodykits despite being involved with custom cars for years) The kit was so awful the bodyshop called me and basically refused to put it on the car. The kit in question was an extreme dimensions "m-speed", it was missing mounting holes, the sides were so off I couldn't even put my sidemarker lenses in with it mounted, the back was about an inch to narrow, it wasn't even wide enough for the car! Contrast that with my Mazdaspeed bumper, which only needed paint and it was absolutely perfect, still is to this day despite me taking it off a million times and having it repainted 2-3 times.

If you go cheap, you'll get cheap. It won't fit, it won't last, and it'll cost a small fortune to make it look right when you could have just used that money towards buying authentic anyway.

Just hang in there, take your time, enjoy the process, save up and do it right, don't just throw shit on your car because it's cheap and gives you the supposed "look". (unless you want to "look" like an idiot, and ruin a nice car in the process)

Ive been looking around for used ones havent found one yet tried google, ebay, craigslist, cant seam to find where anyone is selling a used ms body kit. If any one see's one please let me know. Also i found a nice kit by shine some people said they had a good experience with them on a mustang, has anyone had it on their 8?

RID3R 04-30-2011 01:39 AM

I havent had body kits before went stock but i am saving up slowly for an original ms kit. if the bodykits are that trash than i came to the right place to find out. ill drive stock it doesn't matter cause i want something thats going to last me a life time and original is what i usually go with.

Because i want a body kit and if there was any good replicas that are cheap out there that someone dealt with before i would get and sell the stock bumpers.

bse50 04-30-2011 02:01 PM

Stuff is cheaper for a reason usually. If you want cheap parts from ebay buy something with a vtec in it!

Seriously though, you can get good quality non mazdaspeed products with different looks. Autoexe has official US distributors, Vertex Lang does too.

Strata-R 06-09-2011 09:17 AM

so anything on http://www.mazdaspeedstore.com is gonna be good quality? i just had a small accident and tore off the front lip off of my front bumper. i'm debating if i'd rather just get a whole aftermarket bumper with a front lip already part of the mold. i went to a body shop and they said never buy fiberglass or urethane, cause both are really low quality. for anyone that has experience, which material is preferable for every day use of the car?

canaryrx8 06-09-2011 09:25 AM

ohh dude, just took a look at that site and all I can say is...run away! Seriously, everything they had was veilside "style" or Mazdaspeed "style", which equals "crap".

If the rest of your oem bumper is ok but just the lip is torn I'd recommend either getting another lip, (there are several options aside from oem if you're tired of it, like r-magic, knightsports etc.) or if you're going to do an entire bumper I'd go with a reputable company like Autoexe, Ings, Vertex, etc., The bumper will cost more than a lip obviously, but if you go with a real company and not the shady crap it'll be worth it in fitment, appearance, quality, durability, etc.

Hey thanks for the tip. I am also considering an aftermarket, carbon fiber splitter to replace the broken lip. Do you have advise on from who to buy?

waleed786 06-09-2011 11:16 AM

How's C-west? They seem to have a pretty good rep..anyone ever tried them?

canaryrx8 06-09-2011 12:38 PM

C-West has been around for years, they're a legit company as far as I know, I've seen some of their stuff for other cars and it seemed okay so whatever they make for the 8 is probably okay too.

I don't know of any splitters right off the top, you might just do some googling or look around in the "jdm thread" under the multimedia section, there's tons of pics in there of all sorts of kits, lips, splitters, etc.
