Pictures with V1 Kit installed.

4 Attachment(s)
Quick Pictures el Ocho (the 8) whith the V1 Kit installed. I also added some pictures where I had to give some dremell love to the kit where the exhaust tips melted things... Note all the chit on the tips from the melted crap. Anybody have any Ideas on how to clean that chit off would be nice..

DaveCM203 12-29-2006 12:53 PM

Stupid Question: Would the chrome inserts help with the melting issues of would that just be adding hot surface area to the plastic and melt more. I am trying to decide on an exhaust is why I ask.

WreakLoosE 12-29-2006 12:56 PM

No that would just make a hotter area, The kit is very very close to the tips when it is first installed. As you look at it you can easly tell things are going to be hot in that area. Another problem is having somebody make the chrome inserts. They make them for the stock bumper that fit perfectly. But getting one for the V1 rear lip has to be even smaller because the rear lip fits into the location where the stock inserts would go.

not terrible at all....but thats one of the main reasons i didnt get a veilside rear.....

XDEEDUBBX 12-29-2006 01:01 PM

that exhaust with a melted rear looks horrible.. =(

Kris 12-29-2006 01:03 PM

I can appreciate the effort put into it bro...

But not my cup 'o tea. Seems too busy. But overall good job !

chrism 12-29-2006 01:04 PM

i like the hood allot though....its seibon right?....kinda growing on me

WreakLoosE 12-29-2006 01:09 PM

Yea the melted junk on the exhaust bugs me.. However the Trimming on the kit worked out very well. You can hardly tell that it was trimmed unless you get all into the exhaust port like I did when the pictures where taken. all in all it came out good but I am very bugged at the melted crap on the tips.

NgoRX8 12-29-2006 01:29 PM

nice alteration.

car looks nice, needs clears though! :)

lokoebird 12-29-2006 01:44 PM

Hey what about spraying on some heat resistance on to the rear? Would that work?

WreakLoosE 12-29-2006 03:23 PM

That would be less effective than using the Heat shield. The paint itself will may not be affected by the heat but the materal under the paint will still melt. The problem is simply the pipes are too close to the kit. At the end of the kit at the exhaust opening is almost directing the hot gasses on the kit. With my exhaust the tips are tucked under the kit a bit and that gets the most heat.. Arround the tips give off high ammounts of heat as well that melts the kit.. The only true fix is to use Stock exhaust. Weld stock diameter pipes on your after market exhaust or make room in the kit for your exhaust.

Are those two sets of the OEM Aero Flares on the door sills?

edit: Aaah...thanks, NGO.

NgoRX8 12-29-2006 03:35 PM

they're actually Veilside version 1 sideskirts.

shinka213 12-29-2006 03:40 PM

I have the V1 front lip but opted for the D1GT side skirts and rear.....had no problem with the exhaust on the D1GT...i think the openings are bigger...
i like a full side skirt as opposed to the 2 piece...

love the hood.....im a cf seibon ks style ho myself!! :D:

another reason i went for the D1GT was a very good friend of mine put the V1 rear on and had the same thing happen to her with the melt down....they both look sweet but i didnt wanna have to make any mods to work it out....

good luck with the veilside.....i happen to be a veilside ho :D:

foo77 01-01-2007 12:15 AM

Go to muffler shop and have them move the exhaust tips lower.

The heat shield will work but your bumper is way too close for the shield to be affective.

3MTA3 01-01-2007 01:14 PM

My experience: lowering the tips didn't work. Heat shields didn't work either.

What did work: buying a new rear made out of fiberglass.

About those Veilside sideskirts, could the OEM side aeroflares fit in the front as well? Or is only the veilside fitted for the front? Any way only the front could be ordered or would it not match with the rear OEM aeroflares?

WreakLoosE 01-08-2007 11:07 AM

They Realy Wouldnt Match... I am thingking of going simpler with my car... Just may get the OEM aero flars for the Rear. The back bumber and just getting the ft mud flaps... I may just use the VS. front Lip with the kit.. I think it will still look good... I havent seen anybody do it yet so I am not totaly sure...
