Did not get to install it yesterday as I had hoped. But we are not going out of town as expected today which means I should have plenty of time today :)

Hoss 03-22-2009 02:25 PM

Looks nice :) . And you cant beat overnight parts from japan.

pdxhak 03-22-2009 03:02 PM

I have never purchased CF parts so not sure what to expect to see light coming though so easily. I'm sure if I painted the inside of the lip with black paint you would not be able to tell. But I do not want to install a part that is not very strong. The pics below are from right, center and left sides of the lip.

What do you guys think? Is this normal?

it's normal. Resin is clear and the majority of the weight is resin. You'll usually see a filler material used in between layers of CF (honey comb, fiberglass, etc) but for something like this that is basically a "cover" I doubt it's needed.

nuke0907 03-22-2009 03:12 PM

its normal. you can paint it black on the back if it bothers you too much. you wont be able to tell from the front anyways.

pdxhak 03-22-2009 03:15 PM

Awesome. Thanks guys!

abraves4410 03-22-2009 03:27 PM

Cant wait to see this on the car, was considerring buying this for mine, im curious about the clearance afterwards, especially since ill have stechs

pdxhak 03-22-2009 03:31 PM

I have tein flex coliovers so the drop should be similar to your stechs :)

abraves4410 03-22-2009 03:38 PM

i wanted tein coils but i had to settle for a drop on a budget lol

Ross_Dawg 03-22-2009 04:26 PM

it shouldnt be to much lower than the stock AP lip... thats one of the reasons I was looking to get it. Now that you have it though... hmphhh

Rotr8 03-22-2009 04:39 PM

Its not lower, but its extended radius will cause you to use more caution when entering inclined driveways and such...

Pdxhak, dont worry about the thiness, I doubt they had a composites engineer tell them where to lay the material with a material schedule. It should be no worry though its not indestructable, it will be strong enough,,,
Like others have said if it worries you just paint the back black, but being under the car and out of a direct line of light there will be no rear projected light that will show through, it will be dark...

c0ldf1ame 03-22-2009 04:54 PM

pdxhak i've seen that on the re-amemiya front lip, seems pretty normal to me,

pdxhak 03-22-2009 05:49 PM

Thanks again for all the feedback.

Right now having a hard time removing the OE air dam. The double sided tape is not releasing using a hair dryer. I have a heat gun but its lowest setting is 750*. I have used that much heat on painted and powder coated titanium golf heads but thinking that is too much heat for the material the lip is made from. Any tips for getting the tape to release?

05rex8 03-22-2009 06:00 PM

Did your 8 come with appearance package? If so there is more than tape holding it.

lesper4 03-22-2009 06:11 PM

sweet looking but where are the pics? in daylight

pdxhak 03-22-2009 06:38 PM

I got the tape to release with the hair dryer. Just needed to hold it in place longer than expected.

05rex8,

I removed all the screws from underneath and in the wheel wells. Looks like there a few behind the lip screwed in from the bumper. Any others?

3 hours of daylight left. Just not sure I will complete the install by then though.

Rotr8 03-22-2009 06:51 PM

no, I think that should be it....it is easier to do it with the front bumper off tho :)

pdxhak 03-22-2009 08:07 PM

From a picture perspective the instructions suck  Not sure I can install it either without the black bottom piece that comes with the stock bumper minus the air dam :banghead:

Anyone read Japanese?

nuke0907 03-22-2009 08:16 PM

should fit.

I assume your talking about the OE part as seen if someone didnt have the appearance package,,,, Do not remove this,, it will fit over top , my burnout lip is the sameway...
