OEM Hood replacement

Hey guys, new here... I just bought a 2004 yellow 6 speed for my wife. It has an aluminum hood and the hood was dented by the hurricans in Florida. I can repair the small dent in the fender but the hood cannot be repaired. I am trying to find a stock replacement, I don't really want carbon fiber or anything, I just want the car to look stock or better than stock. I'm not really into the "ricer" stuff. I wouldn't mind one with a hood scoop but I don't care. If you can help me out, I would appreciate it. I can't find much on the Internet.

I'm sure I'll be hanging around from now on, finding out ways to make the car faster. I got it up to 107 tonight in the blink of an eye, this car is simply amazing.

EDIT: I have purchased a hood, don't need help anymore, thanks.

Hood scoop?

Yeah, I put one on my wife's Cougar, you know how some cars and trucks have the raised up part on the hood in the middle? Here is a pic of the Cougar:

Normally it's just flat there but I put on the hood scoop.

Anyway, I should've just searched the site first, I found a couple stock hoods for sale in the FS section so I may have answered my own question.

what??? my hood was fixed by dent pro, nothing them can't fix as long as the paint didn't crack. if you're looking for stock replacement, wait one more month and i'll sell you mine.

This hood is not repairable, the dent is pretty bad. You could fix it and then fill in the low spots with bondo or something but I don't want bondo on the hood, it could crack later and show in the paint. I just bought a hood off of a member here, it's the same color and everything, so I don't need to find a hood anywhere else now. Thanks anyway.

wow you are fast :) is it OEM hood?

djgaston 10-20-2004 06:02 PM

Yeah it's just a used hood from titaniumgrey, he put that carbon fiber hood on his lightning yellow RX8 and didn't need it so I got a good deal on it. :-)

The OEM hood is fine, it looks cool.

good deal. Did you price a new hood from mazda ? how much is it ?

djgaston 10-20-2004 06:24 PM

A new hood, an aluminum one, would probably be a good $800 or $1000 from the dealership I would imagine. Usually aftermarket hoods are just a hair cheaper than stock replacement, so that it's cheaper to upgrade than to stay stock after a wreck or something. I got this one for $250 shipped and it cost $110 to ship. Plus I don't have to paint it, the worst I'll have to do is remove some scratches and I am going to have the whole car detailed and wet sanded anyway.
