Besides the fact that those seaport photos are REALLY getting old, I don't think there's one person who actually finds it funny, let alone understand what the heck you're talking about.

If I were you, I would just say the word "REPOST".

shelleys_man_06 09-11-2004 09:06 AM

Nah. I'm an ass. Either shape up or ship out.

BTW, it's not supposed to be teh funny. It means use the SEARCH button before writing new threads.

rotarenvy 09-11-2004 04:41 PM

how about you just let the thread die. instead of showing your age and wisdom.

Shelley why don't you do a search on t-and-e and see what you come up with bitch

I hear you. I get so tired of people posting "why don't you do a search". I'm sorry that I am not on this site 24/7 reading and posting in every thread here.

I have better things to do. I jump on here a few times a day and read up on new things. That's it. Ok now I'm going to post something new. Do I need to do a search 1st.

haha thats prettyt lame

Okay. let's not get pissy and start a flame war.

Frankly, newbies tend to ask questions that have been asked 100 times before (and what is worse, 3 or 4 different newbies ask basically the same questions in different threads all at the same time). I know I posted once or twice and got told to run a search. It only took once or twice of someone telling me to do a search (and seeing a lot of other people getting told to run a search) before I did a search before posting every time. After you get a feel for what has been said and what hasn't, then you can ask a question w/o searching. So, to answer someone's question, YES, we expect (okay, we only recommend) you to run a search before you post.

Take a look:

There is tons of info here. Members respect you when you do research instead of cluttering up the board with reposts. Esp. if you do your research, then ask a question that HASN'T been answered.

How about instead of someone posting "Do a search," I just delete the thread (if it is in my section), then PM you to do a search with a link to rule 15? Would that make you more happy or more irritated? At least now someone might provide something interesting to you, though I think people saying "Do a search" provides just as much clutter on the board as posts that deserve someone telling them to "Do a search."

thats fair enough robertdot I wouldn't have minded a moderator steping in.
what I don't need is some newbie steping in and filling the thread with unrelated pictures and trying out some lame joke at my expense (after I have run a search for what I thought would bring up a reference).

to make matters worse; you can normaly tell to the people yelling 'do a search' say the same thing, just search the threads they started. they are also normaly deluded in thinking that there is a difference between starting a related thread and posting dribble on the end of a thread.

anyway I think it's time for moderators to step in and tell these self imposed moderators to pull their heads in.
