Metal Skidplate?

Background:
I purchased my 8 little over a year ago and many things I didn't notice because I didn't ask to have it put on a lift to look underneath, but the zip ties and strings holding the destroyed skid plate up finally broke and the skid plate is a mess.

Question:
Does anyone make a metal one? I would love to have one that bolted up instead of the push plastics that are a joke to begin with. It isn't a rally car so Aluminum would be perfect. If someone made one that did the fender wells also that would be great! As the driver side of that one is a mess too.

Just incase anyone is confused (The plastic that is under the motor and attaches to the bottom of the bumper) Skidplate, mud plate, engine guard, whatever you want to call it. That piece.

Is this what you're talking about? Brice at Race Roots I believe will have these puppies soon. Check with him and ask him about it.

I think there are others too but I cant think of any others off the top of my head.

Yeah, the underpanels were going through R&D a while back but I'm not sure if they had made the production version yet. But if anything, Brice will know

Sent a pm haven't heard back yet. Anyone else know of any out there?

Yes, get some plastic from a wholesale distributor. It's easy to cut and drill holes.

Grainger is nationwide.

:scratchhe Did you even read the post? I even color coded it for ease of reading. If I wanted plastic again I would just buy oem, I want metal not plastic. The only time I said change from plastic was the clips. And even that was bolts not plastic clips.

He got back to me basically saying the design got jacked up and it'll be "some time" before we ever see it. Anyone else know of another company that makes them?

u can make ur own, just make a template out of paper and take it somewhere to get the sheetmetal cut, if ur car is lowered alot tho i wouldnt recommend it, if something hits the plate it could potentially take out ur whole bumper

Thought had crossed my mind, but I would prefer something more professional. As much development time that GTspec one is taking I would imagine just rigging something is a bad idea. Also would require me not having one already all torn up lol.

As for the something hitting the plate and taking out the bumper? It would be bolted to the frame of the car. If anything the plastic is worse. Things always are breaking tabs then they come loose and you have giant teeth marks in your tires from bits of plastic hanging and catching on right turns. SOB

Looks like I may have to stick with oem till that GTspec one comes out by the looks of it.
