KEI Eyelids DIY time; tape question

Hey all,

I recently purchased a pair of eyelids that were made by an old member on this forum who apparently used something to the idea of a KEI stencil.

Anyways, I ordered my paint, TI grey isnt a tri-coat so i only had to purchase the base and clear. I also got fiberglass primer as well.

However, these eyelids do not have adhesive on them yet. The seller happened to mention that 3M tape is the correct adhesive. Any suggested brands/types or strategies?

Just wanted to get some feelers out for this project. The painting I'm not so much worried about but I dont really know much on how to go about doing the adhesive work.

Thanks!

Edit: After looking at how other vehicles had done it, it looks like 3M double-sided is the way to go, but it still leaves me with a simple question though;

Would you either A: cut a piece of tape with the outline of the stencil or only tape small portions. I looked at a BMW full eyelid DIY and they only masked a few parts.

Yeah that helps a ton! Before I paint the fronts of the eyelids, do you recommend doing anything to the back of them (like any kind of finish/protectant)?

Ugh, 3M offers so many kinds of double-sided tape. Not really sure which is the right stuff/what size.

The tape on these is like 1cm wide.

I haven't had mine installed yet, they're getting put on when I get some other body work taken care of.. but from what I understand you shouldn't really need to do anything to the back of them
