How Much To Debadge A Car?

So I have been searching for 15 minutes now about Debadging my 8. I know that this is the following layout:

Mazda Logo (Front + Back): 3 Holes
MAZDA Word: 2 Holes
RX8 Word: Sticker

For the ones with the Holes/Pins in them, I know that I would have to fill in the holes and get paint to cover it up. Does anyone know how much that would cost to get it done somewhere? I could not find any information on this.

Or, does anyone know a good link to a DIY on how to remove the badges and cover them up?

Thanks for anyone that helps!

300-400 to get the holes welded shut and the trunk repainted.

What if I just wanted to get the MAZDA word removed? I kinda want to leave the Mazda Logo on there.

Well. If you're gonna debadge one.. It's still about the same. They have to paint the trunk. so the difference b/t filling and painting 1 vs 2 is very small.

So it's just preference then. Would any Mazda dealer do this, or would I have to go somewhere else?

yup look around i found a place that would do mine for 250 ... reputable place ... but i ended up going with a grey black scheme so i blacked em instead

Go to a auto shop. Never go to the dealer for this stuff. If you go to a privately owned shop, like a custom shop or something, they could probably be cheaper than your average chain autoshop.

I'll have to check around. Agile Auto Performance is around me, and I am thinking they would be able to do it...although I don't know if they can get the paint right.

They specialize in Subaru's, but it is just removing Badges.

Would any Auto Shop be able to match my Velocity Red?

Yes, any competent body shop. It's the computer age. ;) They just need the paint code data off the door pillar placard.

Any recommendations for shops to take it to?

I live literally 3 minutes away from PepBoys, but I have had some bad experience with my first car there, but nothing dealing with paint.

^ I myself would never trust pepboys... seem's like they'll just hire anyone there but I could be wrong.

I feel the same way. I went there to replace a Gasket set for my previous car (Dodge Avenger) and they told me that had to run tests to see what it was...after I told them what I was there for! :Drooling_

find a good body/paint shop and they can do it no prob. mine was 300. if you want to keep the emblem, have them fill all the holes, then just put it back on. if you want to delete it later, then you can without paying again

rotr8 mentioned a Paint Shop to me close by so I might give them a call see if they can remove the badges and weld and paint for me.

Properly welding the holes shut adds a fair amount to the cost.

I just finished today reinstalling the front bumper on my '05. I did the labor of removing it and all the lights and center grill piece. Repainting the piece and filling in the three holes from the emblem was $225. This was a coworker who does show cars on the side.

Read the first post again. The OP is asking about the Mazda emblems on the front bumper and the trunk.

yes you can plastic weld it shut, but over time the cureing(green-state) of the plastic may still receed and creat tiny little sink holes,,,

pdxhak 08-23-2009 10:22 AM

rotr8, I wish paint & body shops charged those prices for quality work around here. A couple of shops wanted $800+ to weld the spoiler and badge holes shut and paint the trunk. The highest quote was $972 :Eyecrazy: Thankfully I found someone to swap with.

Yeah that is the one I am going to check out once I am able to. They did an awesome job on your car! I love the look of the car without the 3rd brake light.
