how do you remove emblem from rx-8
 

can any one tell me how i can remove my rx-8 emblem from car car nicely

Use dental floss and slice through the glue behind the emblem. Get someone to blow hot air from a hair dryer onto the emblem while you're slicing through the glue, to soften it.
Also do a search for emblem, for more info about the emblems.

bring it to any body shop, it will NOT COST YOU ANYTHING OVER $20.

Becareful which badges you choose to remove.
Almost all of them will leave mounting holes exposed.

I believe only the "RX8" badge lacks the mounting posts, so removing only this one will not leave any holes.

how much would it be to fill said holes?

or cover with new emblems?

anyone have a good site where different emblems could be purchased?

the front and rear mazda symble badges have holes, as well as the "mazda" rear badge.
there are no holes behind the "rx-8" badge. ;)

Not only do you have to heat up the emblem to soften the adhesive foam mounting tape, you have to remove the two fasteners on the rear side of the bumper cover in the front and the trunk lid in the rear. They are the pressure clips type that go on by pushing but hold tight if trying to remove. The Mazda flying M has 3 holes, one is a guide, don't ask me why, and the other two have the clips. I have not looked into the the MAZDA name logo on the trunk lid.

However, I am developing a plug that will be OEM color that will mount from the underside of these surfaces and fill in this hole they left. It will be a nice alternative to the $400 or so body shop charges I would think.

I blacked out the badges on my 8 to0, only problem is ... the paint on the front emblem is chipped off in a few places and starting to bubble in another. The backs ok though.

(used 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clearcoat)

Did you use regular spray paint or automotive paint?

Am thinking of having to use automotive paint and possibly sanding the "chrome" surface off the badges.

Chrome is the hardest material to paint. I have a set of center caps from our stock wheels that I got sent to me by an unamed dealership when I ordered a set of stock caps and they were all chrome. I have tried painting them 4 different times only to have them peel when trying to finish. I eventually gave up. I tried etching primer, flexible primer, adhesion promoter, etc. Nothing worked. If I could sand the surface with the detail that is needed, that would work. So, I suggest to sand quite heavily to give it a very rough upped surface before priming and finishing painting.

I do have a mold with the Flying M that I made for the fun of it and I can paint it whatever color anyone wants. Here is a pic of it with my front grill that I am going to be releasing soon. Just have to make a few parts that are needed for finishing.

use scortch bright or 400 grit sand paper and go nuts.
make sure you get the "shine" off the surface, then clean it with "grease & wax remover".
apply 3 coats of plastic primer, allow enough time to dry then cover it with what ever colour you want, then clear it if you wish. :D

EDIT: oh by the way, when you are putting it back and it doesnt want to "sit" properly, use abit of hot glue (with glue gun) on the back of the badge ;)
