holes from spoiler
how would i plug the holes from the stock spoiler in the trunk lid with out it looking bad? i want to remove the spoiler
|
weld and repaint. should be 300-500 bucks.
edit: or trade trunks with someone. ;) |
take it to a body shop, have them weld the holes shut, grind the welds flat, repaint the trunk. might as well do a debadge too.
....or you could get a new trunk without the holes. |
repainting parts never look the same

If you have a BB then you can use electrical tape and look ghetto like me ;) Unfortunately I have not found a shop like Dondo that will weld and paint for $300-$500 . I may do it myself along with other custom work to the trunk :)

just fyi, there're 3 holes on each side, really really annoying. i did this 'cuz no one wants to trade trunk w/ me since mine's lightning yellow. 2 of the holes are for the bolts and one is for this plastic clamp. i was feeling really really cheap so i just went to the hardware store and bought some urethane plugs and plugged 'em up, looks really ghetto that way. oh and also chances are the seats of the spoiler would've left weird triangular imprints in the paint. if you want a perfect look, you'd have to go to bodyshop

This is what it will look like when you remove the spoiler. The marks can not be buffed out and the trunk needs to be painted.

thats why i brought the sport, no need for the OEM spoiler, but since you already have the holes get mazdaspeed spoiler it bolts right up from what ive heard.
|
thanks guys well on that note would any one want to trade for a winning blue trunk lid for one with no spoiler
|
MS spoiler uses the existing holes but it does not cover up the marks.

Hmm can you have some one sand down some of the clear coat then buff it out, you can goto a body shop.
|
That is definitely the case with my trunk.
