HID question

ok for my SS GT rx8 i want to get 10000 K HID's for it. I've heard some people say i need a HID conversion kit and some people say i just need the bulbs. which is true? thanks for the help in advance

Jedi54 09-11-2009 03:35 PM

10000 k bulbs are worthless.
why do you want them?

i went 8000k its looks nice and still see good light output also is your car have stock hid's?

savedsol 09-11-2009 04:02 PM

This is a common sense question.

dhan 09-11-2009 04:14 PM

If you want the brightest go with 3000k haha pure yellow but most people go with 6000k. 2nd brightest and you get the all white look. i went with 8000k =). And yes you just need the D2S bulbs if im correct because you already have stock HID. just get some HID fogs while your at it =)!

ya i went on an ordered 8K lights. Sorry if some of you thought this was a "common sense question" but i really don't know much about rx8's and specs of them. I've only had mine for like a month. I do appreciate everyone's help though

to dhan: HID fogs are next on my list after headlights :) its already lowered and i put some enkei ev-5 hyper black 18's wrapped in nitto rubber on it a week or so ago. Once i get the HID's im movin on to performance upgrades

RX: the HID fogs are very cool but can be kinnda pricey to be honest. I wanted to do them for a while but there aren't really any 'plug and play' kits for us. (unless things have changed)

you should look into the hoen bulbs. www.hoen-usa.com
I've used them for years with great success.

ya i noticed they were pretty expenseive and would like a cheaper alternative, all i gotta say about your fogs is wow those look sick. All you had to do was replace the bulbs with the ones on the site? Which bulbs fit rx8's?

Jedi54 09-12-2009 08:29 PM

YUP, direct swap. just take out the old bulbs and put in the hoen H11 bulbs.
also, you'll notice I have the foglight rewire mod done on my car. (foglights on without the headlights having to be on)

there's a thread in the DIY subforum on how to do it. pretty simple stuff

dhan 09-12-2009 09:30 PM

If you want jdm yellow go with the PIAA haha the ones i got :)

RX-865 09-12-2009 11:31 PM

hahaha yellow fogs or headlights?

dhan 09-13-2009 04:45 AM

haha yellow fogs! Although i might be getting some HID fogs soon.

8upbad 09-13-2009 07:33 AM

This thread caught my attention when I first jointed. I wonder if the LED's are holding up or if the go bad too quickly. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-exterior-appearance-body-kits-27/new-leds-wow-bright-158590/
