HID conversion.. need help
Ok so I did the HID conversion kit install from therpmstore on Sunday and got everything situated. Well tonight was the first night I had the opportunity to drive around with the new headlights and needless to say.. the lighting output isn't what I expected. I got 6000K bulbs so I know my lighting shouldn't be THAT dull should it?? Here are some pics.. I know its not the best quality, but maybe somebody can help me out. And yes one of my side markers burned out... whoops!

Hmmm...if the lights are coming on then you hooked up everything correctly on your end. With therpmstore kit installed on my car, however, I had a very sharply defined light cut off. On yours it seems that light isn't dispersing where it shouldn't be.

Is it possible to adjust the way the bulbs are facing? Its not like I was rough with the kit while installing it. The fitting actually went smoothly. Any suggestions??
|
idk if it will do anything but take out the bulb ab put it back in as straight as possible and if still doesnt work well then :dunno:
|
im having the exact same issue with my kit, i bought a 6k set for my lows/highs. i talked to a tech from HIDkit.com on the phone and he said that the daytime running lights will interfere with the continuous amperage needed for the HID's "full" effect. i'll let you know if i get it to work. Also is anyone getting a flickering when you first turn your lights on?

Try to rotate the bulb in the housing. It has to be the way the bulbs are positioned it looks like all the lighting is pointing down directly in front of the car
|
The bulb is tabbed, you cannot rotate it. I am wondering if he installed without a spacer

I know I wasn't sure since I can't remember 100% if it was possible to get the buld installed wrong. Cause it looks like its facing the wrong direction. I agree with the spacer idea too that maybe it |
well the cutoff just looks bad, and I guess the bulbs have squirrel finders too? Mkae sure they are seated totally flush in the housing, make sure that it's not just slightly crooked on sticking out on one side.
6000K is about 30% less bright as the stock 4300K bulbs. |
Like Aseras said, the spacers will help keep the bulb seated firmly. If you dont have the bulb seated and it moves around it will melt against the edges of the projector cone, and its angle will produce light like your pics ... and thats bad news bears....dont ask me how i know lol
|
wow just getting a simple conversion kit is becoming a very big headache... long story short dont ever buy anything from HIDkit.com....
|
the brightness of the lights also has to do with the name brand
better quality lights are much brighter...i have 6K HIDs and they are much brighter than the stock 4300K...try Philips 6K bulbs different companies also measure the color temperature in different ways so they may be slightly different in color |
