help with apperance please!!!!

i'm keeping my 8 ready for b stock, but why not have a good looking b stock car?

i need a few opinions and how to's for a few things.

currently: metro gray rx8, red interior, 20% tint

will have black powder coated oem rims for normal 03-08 models (simple 5 spoke), and also black led's for footwells, interior, puddles and possibly black under glow.

smoked tails, smoked heads, smoked corners. what's the best looking method, films or sprays? and for corners, should i get clear ones then do it, or use oem ambers?

debage/repaint badges. how would i go about painting these, or should i just de badge u guys? i'm thinking either front and rear pieces black, only mazda logo black, or full debadge.

red calipers

help please!

thanks.

as far as smoking the lights.... sprays look much better imo. smoked oem ambers are alright, i'de prolly do that, and if i didnt like it i would get clear ones and smoke em.

can't help on the debadge. im sure some1 else will chime in.

calipers are easy. take wheel off, clean, sand, tape off everything else (fender well, all sorts of junk to stop overspray from getting on shit)
then spray.

course thats the ghetto way to do it... i did it that way, sort of. and it looks just as good as the people who take the caliper off completely and do it. i didnt want to have to bleed the ABS system.

however i did unbolt the caliper itself from the rotor to wrap the rotor in plastic, but this isnt required

Get some good looking B stock wheels...such as the O.Z. Ultraleggera

vndr09 03-08-2009 11:02 PM

I keep forgetting to post pics of my smoked heads, tails, corners, eyelids, and debadged /black-out trunk...I'll get them tomorrow cuz I have spring break this week.

And I think I'll do that caliper paint job suggested by riskybusiness:

so spray it is, i'll spray em all and see how they look. any product recommendations? would i clear coat too?

calipers: sand then paint, thats it? no primer or clear coat and what not?

i wish i had the money for em, ultraleggera are what like 18 and a half lbs, versus oem which are 20? around 300 bucks per, not worth it imo. i'll save for koni yellows and tires. but ty, i do love the way they look though.

My body shop used 5 coats of paint, then clear-coated (instead of VHT nightshade spray tint). It turns out a lot better imo. At first, VHT is what I had, then body shop said he'd redo them to make them look better...

Use the G2 caliper paint kit. Prep very well. (Wire brush and carb cleaner)

Been about a year and a half and mine still look PERFECT.

just had a HUGE idea HUGE.

metro gray, black, and chrome theme.

yes or no, i'm leaning towards no.

metro gray car, black oem rims with chrome lip, silver sharpie rear bumper mesh, chrome rotary accents. black out badges, and smoke out lights again.....or just original, same thing with no chrome?

will chrome go well with this guys?

oh and black door handles...yes or no?

ty ty guys!

Rotr8 03-12-2009 10:12 PM

Why do sharpie when you can have real outlets...

vndr09 03-12-2009 10:13 PM

lol uh I would just go with the black and gray theme...that's what I did. I just dont like chrome. But if you do, then go for it!

Rotr8 03-12-2009 10:16 PM

yeah and I m not exactly sure how your gonna pull off a chrome plated lip on an OEM wheel???

vndr09 03-12-2009 10:19 PM

^^^anything is possible if you got the dough

firebirdude 03-12-2009 10:25 PM

Then use pepperoni pizzas instead of OEM wheels.

yes, your right, but the way Im thinking about how the OP would pull that off would have to be ,,,
chrome plate weels,
sandblast surface that needs to be painted,
paint,
clear coat,

by the time thats all said and done you could have a really decent set of aftermarket wheels...
