Headlight LEDs! Opinions??
I finished putting these things on today and after I got home a few minutes ago decided to take a couple pics.
Here's one without my parking lights on: http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/v...EDs/Normal.jpg And here's with WITH my blue LED parking lights ON: http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/v...kinglights.jpg First, do you guys like?? Second, should I wire it so that they come on by themselves? ...or so that they come on along with the blue parking lights? Thanks!!! |
wow that's badass! yea you could put in s separate switch so you can turn them off independently if needed.
|
i want those how much and where
|
how do your lights look with those in there during the day?
|
AutoZone. 15" Pilot LEDs white. They hardwire into the engine bay's fuse box. $20 each! Install took me about 75 mins.
And idk how they look during the day, I finished the install at around 7:30 and then had to leave so i didn't get any pics...i'll take them tomorrow though! |
in headlight or outside?
|
Interesting. I don't know if I like them or not. Hmmmm.

Outside. I'm not comfortable baking my heads open yet...its my daily driver. Plus, they're hardly noticeable that they're on the outside during the day and night just because the follow the separation line between the bumper and the lower edge of the headlights. |
Wow! I definately like those.
|
I'm not sure how I feel about it. It looks very Audi, which isn't bad or anything, it's just ... very Audi lol. Personally, I think it'd look better if you got rid of the blue parking lights and replaced them with white.
You should post a DIY of this though, it's cheap enough that it'd be worth a try just to see if you like it. |
i liked it untill i found out they were outside, can you post a pick of them in daylight. because if they they look good in the day then ill put them on my car. (day pick on and off)
|
Yeah the car on my desktop background is an R8, my favorite car ever created. So I've been naturally inclined every since I got the 8 to soupe it up first and then put some LEDs in there so it'll look like an Audi from far away at night! lol.
And DIY is simple. Just mount them on the headlight, and mangle your hand fitting the wires up through into the engine bay lol, and then grounding one and putting the other one in the engine bay's fuse box! haha it was actually quite easy, my only concern is that when the rain comes they'll come off :( And YeahYeahYouWere, I like that DIY you made of the trunk cathodes! Really sounds cool. I tried taking off the cover and putting in a 194 LED bulb and it's a little better, but I think I'm going to try to do what you did! |

Sure, I'll get 'em up tomorrow. |
it looks cool.... but everyone knows whats its trying to look like....

As promised, here's my LEDs on and off during the day. You will notice the bumper does not sit flush on the pics of MY left (your right) headlight. That's not because of the LEDs, it's just because it's an ED urethane bumper and it didn't fit exactly right. :)
ON: http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/v...timeFullON.jpg http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/v...imeRightON.jpg http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/v...timeLeftON.jpg OFF: http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/v...imeFullOFF.jpg http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/v...meRightOFF.jpg http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/v...imeLeftOFF.jpg ...imo, they're not too noticeable... |
Have you been pulled over for your blue running lights?
|
Maybe its just me but, the way you ran the LED strips they actually are tucking under the sides up the bumper and appear to be lifting the bumper outwards.... no?
|
Yeah those blue LED parking lights are illegal man. Might get pulled over for them..
|
damn those eyelids are hella aggressive
|
No the blue parking lights aren't noticeable with the heads on. And I never drive with just the blue on. Also, ya the strips are tucked under because they wouldn't bend upwards anymore without causing a bump in the application. Last, it's not causing the bumper to be pressed out a bit. That's how it was before the application.

Those are sex.

The more I look at the pics you posted, the more I think it's pretty cool. It looks fine in the daylight with the lights off, it doesn't look like a rig job at all. You should definitely do a DIY writeup for it! Just showing how you mounted them and ran the wires and exactly where you connected the wires. It sounds like it's not too hard and not too expensive to do, so it might be worth a go. If I did it, I would want them wired to my parking lights - I have whites in there, so I regularly drive with just the parking lights on (daytime), and it'd be nice to have those Audi style LEDs on then too. I would be very interested in trying this. |
those look sick bro, and for cheap as well...
|
I think it looks great on your car, your aggressive eyelids sell the look for me, nothing I could do on my stock but super nice with your specific car!
|
man, thats the best fitting replica MS urethene bumper ive seen.. my old one was from the most reputable company i could find, and it fit like poop.
I agree with the above post, the lights look good because your cars so aggressive. Wouldnt look right on everyones 8. Good job |
