Has anyone ever painted the rock gaurds on their car??

i was just wondering like the title says if anyone has painted these? dunno what exactly it is/called but i got to lookin and it looks like its just a clear vinyl for looks i was just getting ready to paint it black when i decided i should prolly check and see if anyone has done this before and what you guys think.

i want to paint them black. im plaining on painting my rims black also

do you think its a good idea? i was just gonna scuff em up a bit and tape it off and paint them black give it a diff. look to it.

Yup I think its a pretty cool idea,,, I ve thought about it for a long time,, now Im just gonna put a vinyl overlay ontop in case I dont like it...

I'm pretty sure it's a rock guard...like the same stuff a clearbra is made of.

It's vinyl like clear bra. Save yourself accidental overspray, and just buy some cheap vinyl.

damn its too late for that lol hopefully i did a good job tho

yeah i know i had no idea what the hell that thing was called but owell im painting it right now so we will see how it turns out

i forgot my memory card when i took the pictures of the primer lol but owell you get the idea.

oh no those are just whats going on right now i havent finished yet.

i still have the other side to do.

do you think i should put clear coat on it? do i just wait for it to dry and spray it on or am i supposed to sand it a little then spray clr on it?

worse comes to worse i can just peal it off so thats why im doing it to see how it looks

might look good if the lines were cleaner. seems like the taping wasnt exact or something.

i think just taking it off, and putting black vinyl on there would have been safer/easier.

not feeling it at all. almost looks like you tried to fake a vent there or something
couldve used some electric tape to see how it looked before doing it.

just FYI if you plan on removing the thing completely
I believe awhile ago, there was a member that did take it off, only to realize a bunch of nicks were being made there. Apparently rocks really like to hit that area :|

I like it. I think it's different--different is good. In my opinion, you need another dark contrast though to compliment, like black sides or black wheels. Black wheels with an orange pinstripe... your car looks orange in the photos, eh?
