Extreme Dimensions JUNK! Carbon Crap..

My RX8 was involved in an accident in which a Semi decided to back into it twice.. Images are below...

So instead of doing stock, I decided to order all Carbon Creations CF Products... CF Fenders, CF Front, CF Hood, CF Sides, CF Rear, CF Trunk...

ONLY THE TRUNK FIT.

Check out the images below

As you can see the side skirts ARE NOT installed because they DON'T Fit... they are too long...

If this was fiberglass and cost around $1000, I could understand. However This is Carbon Fiber which is not fixable without messing up the visual characteristics of the parts and has a retail value of over $4500.

So what does Carbon Creations say about this? Fitment was good on our SEMA car and its not gonna fit 100% and they can't offer any refunds. This is insane since even the mounting taps on the bumpers are WRONG. Heck even the factory turn lamps don't fit in the front bumper...

In Conclusion... this kit is CRAP from them out the box. My installer has been making molds for a fiberglass and carbon company for years. It has taken him over 3 weeks to come up with ways just to get it to look SOMEWHAT decent.

Mugatu 03-09-2005 01:33 PM

that is a LOT of carbon fiber. i agree that it looks like crap.

TR1GGERx1 03-09-2005 01:38 PM

im sorry to hear to accident. and i like carbon fiber. but dang! thats A LOT of carbon fiber on a stock car. it looks odd no?

army_rx8 03-09-2005 01:40 PM

sorry it does'nt fit..that really sucks paying so much and gettign let down so hard:( i feel for you....infact i'm sharping my knives and dusting off my slug-throwers time to monkey stomp carbon creations

CreativeCompact 03-09-2005 01:47 PM

Yea, I am not gonna deny that at this time the carbon on the stock red car looks like crap, I was talking about the fitment. The car is sponsored by BASF and was going to be in several booths but the fitment has delayed the paint and pearl job we had planned this month. I was simply posting the quality of the poor fitment they offer on some high $$$ products.

joyridevr6 03-09-2005 01:57 PM

Could you keep us updated as to exactly what is being done to remedy the fitment issue and of course post pictures after all is complete.

CreativeCompact 03-09-2005 02:07 PM

Will do... should have some completed photos this evening... I am located in Virginia and I am having the car done in San Francisco CA... So I am flying out there Friday and will be driving it across the usa

Im not in the financial industry, but im going to offer this route up. If you paid for this via a credit card I would contact the credit card company regarding filing a "dispute" over the charge.
Obviously you have not received the product that was expected.

slllygrl10 03-09-2005 02:24 PM

OMG that looks like shit! I think thats too much carbon for a car. Eeekk

er. lol

LiL BenNy 03-09-2005 02:31 PM

any pics of the car as a whole?

Outlaws eXtreme 03-09-2005 02:32 PM

Like he said before, not the carbon fiber part.. but the fitment. I'm surprised Carbon Creations/Extreme Dimensions haven't done something to remedy this situation instead of.. "tough luck." If you are trully disappointed with the product and it is not as promised, you can file a dispute with the credit card company. Then if that still doesn't work, there are other ways to handle this situation... since you did spend a lot of money for the parts, a lawsuit could be brought up... contacting the BBB..etc.

Where's Spicy in this response? :P

Spyder_doo 03-09-2005 03:26 PM

I dont know if it fitted right then the front half of the car would be sweet. I love the way the carbon fenders, hood, and bumber look together but the color contrast to the red middle of the cars just clashy. Sucks that it doesnt fit after all that money too.

whosyourbaba 03-09-2005 03:57 PM

wow that sucks! hope you could get back ur money.

EZZY 03-09-2005 05:10 PM

sorry to hear that. hope it all turned out okay for you.
if you look at their original car, you can sort of see some gaps here and there, and being a C/F version, you can chop and reshape them to make them fit better.
good luck and pls let us know what procedures were made to make it fit/look half decent by your installer.

Kel Rx8 03-09-2005 05:12 PM

that sucks best of luck
but im sure this thread will be helping the next Extreme Dimensions buyer

e46328 03-09-2005 05:16 PM

dam… the fitment is terrible
I bought ED’s urethane kit and haven’t had time to fit them yet… I noticed few days ago that they are not listed as a vendor any more… This makes me really nervous….
Anyone here w/ Extreme dimension’s urethane kit? If so, how’s the fitment?

mikeb 03-09-2005 05:28 PM

ED is here in irvine , cali

that sucks if they dont correct this problem
that is too much money
I saw there rx8 car at HIN in cali last week and it had all the same cf parts you do but they seemed to fit. They probably took more time on that show car which is not fair to you.

outlaw is right

where is ED to comment on this?

Tamas 03-09-2005 05:31 PM

I can only join the others and offer my condolences... that fitment is shit. Hope you get this issue sorted out.

My personal opinion is though that even if the fit was perfect, that much carbon fiber would look bad with any color. I simply can't understand the fascination with replacing this many body panels with CF. It looks out of place.

XDEEDUBBX 03-09-2005 05:44 PM

geez thats a bad fit..sorry to hear of your unfortunate event...get your money back man!! or tell them to send you a new kit!...it's really bad where the hood and the front bumper meet

brothervoodoo 03-09-2005 06:17 PM

holy smokes!!! The fitment is bad as others have commented, I'm sorry to see that. Regardless, isn't there some type of general return policy in California? You give them $4,500 and they run for the hills? That doesn't sound right???

CreativeCompact 03-09-2005 06:41 PM

Well we got the kit fitted to the best of the installers abilities... I am gonna resize pics and try to get them up asap

CreativeCompact 03-09-2005 06:50 PM

Images of the Completed Project... Overall this took about 2 weeks now to get to this status and alot of cash had to be shelled out, but good thing its a close friend.
