thats really cool

Yes, hydrographics has been around for a long time. We used that on some riflescopes.

mysql101 07-27-2009 05:16 PM

i'm getting the wood grain on my rims. that way it will look like oem.

Anyone notice the engine cover in the gallery? Those black and blue rims actually look pretty awesome... I always love a good blue. Though they might not look as good on a car... I'd have to see lol.

Man that is hard. I wonder how it holds up. I would love to get the OEM rims in CF.

dondo 07-27-2009 05:54 PM

nice find. that's awesome

That is really awesome, but I shudder to think what the price would be.

Do we have any idea what the cost would be for them to do a set of wheels?

rodjonathan 07-28-2009 10:35 AM

probably a lot more than most rims would cost ... but thats a guess so dont quote me

8 Maniac 07-28-2009 04:13 PM

I asked how much something like that engine cover would cost and they said $285. So I'd imagine at least that for each rim. It'd probably end up around $400+ depending on how much surface area they do. You could get a decent set of aftermarket rims for that cost, but it would be a unique look. Much cheaper than getting an actual carbon fiber wheel lol

9krpmrx8 07-28-2009 04:16 PM

Man that's expensive. I wonder what the warranty would be too.

8 Maniac 07-28-2009 04:31 PM

yeah, it's definitely pricey. I'm guessing it would hold up rather well, but you'd probably have to keep up with it rather well and be sure to give it a clear coat every so often.

YeahYeahYouWere 07-28-2009 04:33 PM

Holy crap, for $285 to coat an engine cover, I'd expect it to have lips!

But yeah, it DOES look really fantastic. I've been considering a white powdercoat for my OEM rims (so I won't hate putting them back on this winter as much), and I think I could do it for about $80 a rim if I can call in a favor or two. I guess I'll stick to thinking about that plan in lieu of a good dipping!

cool cool. glad you all like it. A friend is doing his 350z 08' dashboard for 250 for the whole thing, i will try to put some pics up. Thanks again!
