Color calipers for a white 8? Pics?

I know its been asked a thousand times before, but Im looking for some input. After searching thru several pages and using the search tool I had no luck coming up with pictures of calipers on the white.

I already bought g2 paint in red, but starting to have second thoughts before I do it. Nothing else on my car is red or will be red ... so I am afriad red calipers might look odd. I had thoughts of buying another kit in white (I read many dont like it, but maybe different on the pearl?) or black.

So please feel free to post some pics for me so I can decide and get those ugly calipers painted up!

i have the mosted messed calipers right now... so here are your options... red, silver, black, might be another color. white is not an option....

On a white car, you could paint the calipers any color you want and they will look good. Most people do go for red. White would be a bad idea, they will only look good right after you clean them.

I say go black.

I'll be the owner of a Whitewater on Wed. I'll be going with black so the calipers don't take anything away from the look of new aftermaket rims. I think I will be going with bronze rims and personally I don't like very many colors in combination with bronze other than black in my application.

I have a white water, I did mine red with a white "mazda" across them. I like the red/white and don't think it takes away from the rims at all... I will try to get some pics up

That would be great, to see pics. I have a whitewater as well, and have been going back and forth between black and red caliper paint. Where'd you get the mazda decals?

the hammered bronze look, or the darker bronze that match the Volk TE37's coloring would be nice.

Yellow.

I know this is bumping an old thread.. but I'm about to do this to my 8 finally (So sick of the rust).

I also have a White RX8 and bought the Dupli-color Caliper Paint in Black & Red, also an Engine Enamel White (They had no white in claliper paint, but I THINK it should work just fine.. both rated at 500degrees).

I'm thinking of painting the rotor center Black, probably top it off with a Dull-coat if it looks too shiny and if I can find a heat rated Dull-coat. The Calipers themselves, I was originally thinking White with Black RX8 Stenceled... but a few people keep saying white isn't an option.

What I want to know is WHY? Brake dust typically is black.. so if it's just a matter of getting dirty (Which I assume it will anyway).. then wouldn't Yellow and any other light color also be 'out' ?

Does anyone have any PICs of White Calipers? or is it just so bad.. that no one has ever done it before? As the original poster stated.. While Red looks OK.. nothing else is red on my car not even the interior so I think it'd look out of place as well.

In fact with my particular 8, I've dark tint all around and replaced the yellow lights with clear corners (Left yellow bulbs due to stupid Florida laws and pesky cops that live in my neighborhood) So my car looks very White/Black all around.. I'd like to keep that theme but thought perhaps someone has Pics as to how bad White Calipers look..

Hopefully someone has a few pics before this weekend.. I'd really like to start this and get it all done before Monday hehe.

Ohh so far I have found only ONE pic of anyone anywhere with White calipers... and honestly they look pretty good (don't like the car myself... but it's not an 8 of course ;)

Heh yes.. because frankly there seems to be a lack of color examples for White RX8's.. so far I've only seen pics with Black, Blue and Red.

So far I'm leaning now toward Black with White "RX8" decals (or stencil if they get here soon enough).. I saw one pic somewhere with that on a White 8 and it looked very nice.

My biggest issue right now is lack of instructions about taking off/cleaning the Caliper and Rotor (so I can also get to the shield and clean it properly)... I think maybe I'll beg in the local forum for someone to perhaps come help for some beer or something hehe

rodjonathan 08-08-2009 05:09 PM

i say black

Alexb 08-08-2009 05:28 PM
