Color Blend to match white on MS KIT

I got a white rx8 with a mazdaspeed kit on it the only problem is the paint shop cant match the color good. you guys think blending the color is the right way to go? right now i have a two tone paint job dull pearlwhite body and bright pearl white kit.

why didn't you just get the MS kit prepainted already? If the paint shop painted it, they should have blended it.

dude thats just sad if the paint shop can't color match.

Mrhappy1983 06-20-2005 06:37 PM

getting it painted would have cost me almost 2 grand more and thats at employee price

Painted White

1648.50 Front
959.52 Side
939.66 Rear

Total - 3547.68
So I'm not sure how you got the kit for 1547.58 Unpainted...

If you took it to the bodyshop, you should have gotten it blended... but then that would just cost even more money. Not sure how much you were planning to spend.

I'm not sure, but I think they have a hard time matching the paint due to the material.. one is metal and the other is plastic/urathane...

I know the standard factory accessory kit that my white has is a slightly different color white than the car itself.. you Don't notice it too much unless your a fanatic like me.. but when asked I was told by the dealer that it is the way it comes from the factory.. I went and looked at every white I saw with kits, and the plastic parts were always a bit brighter than the car itself.

Yes, it has to do with the different materials. Blending it is the only way it'd work.

plastic bumper bars will look lighter compared to the bonnets/guards (metal panels), but it shouldnt be too far off.
did they use the correct colour code?
i'd assume that they would hi-fill (prime) the parts before paint. sometime you can add upto 10% of colour tint (in this case, white) to the primer so it gives better coverage and paint finish.
take it back and get them to do it properly ;)
