Clear Bra - Do It Yourselfer?

I finally made my Veilside Front Lip spoiler purchase a couple of weeks ago and I finally got the darn thing painted for $100! The guy told me that he would install it for me for an additional $25....but I told him that I needed to find someone that will put the clear bra on the front lip (since I have it on the front part of my car already...don't want to ding my front lip already).

So...as tough as it is, I am looking at my painted front lip spoiler as we speak when it could be nicely bolted onto my car.

It got me thinking...maybe instead of me looking for someone to put it on, perhaps I can buy the raw materials and put it on myself? How hard is it to put on these things? Or should I leave it to the pros to put on?

For anything except the front bumper I'd say do it yourself. I did. But that bumper has way too many compound curves. In the bay area a professional would charge maybe $300 just to cut and install that one piece.

How hard is it to do it yourself?

Also, what type of tools and equipment do you need to do this? Where did you make your purchase of the clear bra material?

i've been installing that stuff for several years...and that front bumper is a total biatch to do. i would suggest taking it to a pro and not wasting your money.

what u guys think about putting that clear bra stuff on door panels and such...?

Well...I found a guy that was highly recommended in many forums as well as from a buddy of mine who I haven't seen in a while. This name is Vincent from Omega Tintwerks in Pleasanton...he quoted me $150 to $200-something, depending on degree of difficulty. I guess the price isn't bad...considering what the V1 front lip looks like.

However, I thought it was odd that he wanted the front lip installed BEFORE I go see him...he says it's easier for him so that he can push, pull, etc while it's attached to the car. Just my luck that I'll hit a big ass rock on the way and chip a piece of paint off the lip...

i'd want it installed too. and that price seems cheap as hell.

What does the $200 cover? Front bumper? Hood? Fenders? Head lights? Fog lights?

$200 is FAR below prevailing prices!!

BEWARE!

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. I was quoted $650 for entire front end and hood including side mirors. No headlights though.
