carbon fiber question

3 Attachment(s)
I was thinking about replace my hood PURELY for asthetic reasons..
after spending number of hours for research , i've come down to two choices:

1. evo-r vented carbon fiber hood
2. OEM carbon fiber hood with no vent

1 is $689 and 2 is $550
I did not want to spend more than $1000 for something like hood , so I didn't even consider r-magic or others that cost well over $1000.
Here are some pics.

Another question is ,, i thought gemini vented OEM hood was too expensive ($~800). Is there any OEM style hood that's vented and still around $500 range????? I gave up researching on that one.

Any help would be appreciated.

As I've said before, carbon fiber is NOT a good heat conductor. Aluminum is, which is why alu heat-syncs are used in good (non-liquid) processor cooling systems (see Apple's G4 Cube). The stock hood is alu, and is for a reason: rotaries make plenty of heat. It may not be a big issue, but a vented CF hood would be preferable to a non-vented hood.

There's no science behind this; just logical observations.

This place called Drifting Performance is selling the OEM style hoods for $325.

Evo

I personally, think the Evo hood looks the best. I did not know about CF not being a good heat conductor, but that being the case, the vented hood apparently seems to be the better of the two choices.

just a warning... i would try to see the hood mounted on a car before buying a cf hood. I have seen a lot of cf body pieces on cars lately that just flat out don't fit right

Well if the stuff i sell is damaged or does not fit properly then of course we will take it back.

EVO-R best choice. It extracts heat from your engine. Give you better air flow. Specialy if you have MS kit.Cold air come in from front cool off your radiator and intake. Then exit from the middle of the hood. Very nice!
