CARBON fiber DOORS pics inside

Wow, I wonder how much that junk weighs. More importantly, I wonder if those prices are for 1 or 2 doors... expensive stuff.
|
wow... I wonder if that's safe
|
Aren't the rear doors made of aluminum already? I know the hood is, and, according to others, it doesn't save much weight to have a CF hood. I wonder if the back doors will save any weight in CF.
|
eh i dont like it... too much CF is not for me
|
wow I wonder if RX8 still need to be Lighten up. I know Amuse made a Door for 350Z, but of course 350Z is an heavy car that need to be on Diet.
But not sure if RX8 will need it. But thanks for the Great Finding :) If i decide to get the door My RX8 i know where to find it ;) Cheers |
it has to be prices for both doors
why would anyone get just one door |
you never know mike, ricers are crazy things.
i'm sure that's just CF laminated over a stock door, there's no way you'd actually be allowed to use a door that's equal strength to cardboard and get it insured. |

Also, did anyone else notice that they also make the front door in CF? That would save weight and reduce polar moment of inertia. Call it rice, but there is more than one reason why the Amuse (CF) S2000 corners so well and runs so fast... ...that said, I would only buy these doors if I was installing a full race roll cage (which I'm not ;) ) |
i didnt see the front doors.funny how they can make almost anythign c.f now adays.
me no like either way. |
If I had these cf front and rear doors I would want the WHOLE car in carbon fiber
I'm car crazy but not that car crazy |
If I had the money... Of course, I'd paint the CF titanium gray.
|
Regardless of fit and finish issues, I wonder about crash safety. The OEM rear door has that I-beam. Somehow I doubt the CF version does. Great way to save weight if you have a roll cage though.
________ COACH HANDBAGS |
All the body panels are alluminium are they not - CF not going to save that much weight over AL ?!
I can't stand all this CF stuff, looks like someones bought replacement parts from a scrap yard when bonnets and the like are not the same colour as the rest... just not for me at all - especially all the fake CF stuff - the piano black interior is just fine as it is thanks. |
well the back doors are def aluminum and i doubt much weight wud be saved by going with CF..
i found out they were aluminum at the last autox when i tried to stick my magnets on the back door and they didnt! the front doors are not aluminun the magnets stuck just fine |
lol shocka
that's EXACTLY how I found out :D |

Definitely not for me.
But, for those that are serious about saving weight, this is a possibility. Since that is the ONLY reason to do something like this, I can't believe that they don't even list the weight of these items! |
CF doors can be found for many cars. They're mostly used where weight is of utmost concern, ie. pure race cars. Which is why they're so pricey, they're a low volume item, made to order I believe. The rest of the people that buy them are usually ricers.

This is what I have heard.
RX-8 Aluminum parts: Hood Trunk Lid and rear doors. All the rest of the parts are steel except fro the drive shaft which is CF. I am not sure of the major engine copartments whether they are steel, iron or aluminum. |
