Bumper Grille

Check out the rear bumper grille that I made. Dresses up the bland black.

jaguargod 02-24-2006 02:44 PM

How about telling us what you did? I might like to do this.

NVMYGT 02-24-2006 04:38 PM

I've wanted to do this for quite a while...how about a how to?

Custom cut steel on a lathe and installed each side with 2 stainless steel screws. Really shines when the sun hits it and at night when headlights are shining on it. l love how it makes the care look lower to the ground without messing with suspension. I have since edged the perimeter with chrome accent which really dresses it up. No pictures of that yet though. Here is a closer look of the grille without the edging.

jaguargod 02-24-2006 07:43 PM

Yeah.....don't have a lathe to do steel custom work on. I guess I won't be doing this one. I don't suppose you could create more of those grills if people were interested? What was the cost to do it?

Rear Bumper Grille reply

Yea, I would make them if enough people were interested. It's a bit time consuming between my day job,family.... but I could make them per demand.

jaguargod 02-25-2006 07:55 AM

I would suggest posting how much it would cost to have one made, that way when others look at this thread, they will know that having you make one for them is an option. Maybe someone will post a thread in another section directing people to this one.

Could you also post a photo of what the chrome accent edging looks like?

Rear Bumper Grille Replay

I'm looking at $100 to make them. Still have to figure out shipping and packaging. Here is a before shot, and an after with the grille trimmed out.

jaguargod 02-25-2006 09:23 AM

Thanks. Now we will just wait for others to see it.

My fault, I asked him to do it. Sorry.

DOMINION 02-25-2006 07:40 PM

Yea or you get BANNED!

whenson417 02-26-2006 01:08 PM

To me it looks like this is 3' strips of gutter guard you can buy at Home Depo for $3.00 a sheet. Selling them for $100.00 is a scam. I put that stuff on the front nose and oil cooler sections on my first RX8 and although it looked pretty good I wouldn't charge $100.00 for it to do again and I am sure it is much more labor intensive than what you are trying to sell. It looks like you just took some sheet metal shears and cut to shape then just screwed it on.

nardo 02-26-2006 01:46 PM

if you can do it with "gutter guard" more power to you. I have my day job and could care less about selling this grille. The less that other people have, the more unique mine looks. Snip away.

TeamRX8 02-26-2006 05:37 PM

do you cut out the plastic so that air flows through or just lay the screens over the existing surface?

DOMINION 02-26-2006 08:37 PM

I would cut it

NgoRX8 02-26-2006 08:45 PM

^go for it DOMINION, I wanna see how it looks! :D:

TeamRX8 03-11-2006 12:57 PM

This is a before and after shot. The grille makes a difference as you can see.

yiksing 03-12-2006 03:44 AM

It looks good on silver but I doubt on a black.

TeamRX8 03-12-2006 10:02 AM

you never answered my question:

It is not necessary to cut out the bumper to install the grille.

TeamRX8 03-12-2006 10:51 PM

that's what I wanted though, guess I'll have to make my own then ...
