oh wait your talking about the car....

first is this a clear bra or a 'leather style' bra

clear are nice, if you can afford it, I'm going to just replace the front bumper if in a year or two anyway, maybe clear covers on the headlights

for a leather bra, you'll want to search on this cause there are many on the forum who say a bra will screw up the paint big time...and there are a few who say if cleaned properly and maintained the bra will do no damage to the paint

if you look at it logically a leather bra would be a bad idea, the paint will fade at a different rate, even if you try to prevent it dirt or other substances will get caught in the bra, movement will scratch the clear coat, possibly down to the paint

then there is the 'look' of a bra...IMHO it is distracting from the rest of the car, if you want a dark accent on the car put a CF hood on it (not my cup of tea but a better idea I would think)

i wouldn't mind a clear bra.

i had a normal black bra on my mustang that i just got rid of, and the front paint was really damaged by it. It had dirt marks that wouldn't come off, paint that had got scratched up, and it may have also faded at a differet rate.

I don't think it's worth it, even if you take it off and wash the car, if you got any dirt under it, the movement of the bra will cause scratching.

Braless, they look tacky except on black cars. As for clear, I'm a bit mixed on that since they don't last forever and costs a bunch, it's almost cheaper to repaint the bumper than to use a clear bra.

I'm a pro-bra advocate.:-) (See the pics below.) I have used bras on some of my cars in the past and have not noticed any significant damage to the paint due to the bra. Any "damage" was certainly less than all the stone and sand damage that would have resulted without the bra. Why not try one and keep tabs on what's happening underneath it for awhile. If you see the first suggestion of damage from the bra, remove it. Any minor abrasion marks on the clear coat can be removed with a little polishing compound and a good wax. That's what I'm doing. Unfortunately, I don't have enough miles or time on mine yet to give you any results.

I will point out that my 8 is, and my other cars were, garage kept and my annual mileage on the 8 will probably be less than 10,000 miles.

As far as the esthetic appeal of a bra, it's like anything else, either you like the look or you don't. Personally, I like the look.

Hey Nomis - just what I was thinking - why not just re-shoot the front bumper for paint chips every year or so?

I do think the clear covers are more than worth it on the headlights.

It's not that I think the bra looks bad but I would be concerned about the paint.

Depending on your cup size I guess.

Seriously, I think you should just live with the occasional chips. Having a bra may not be good anyway as it could trap moisture under.

If you buy a good bra, you won't have any damage to the paint from dirt. At least nothing that you can't fix with a little polish.

The problem is paint fading. The nose will be be bright and the rest of the car faded.

Also, I have seen leather fade pretty bad after a number of years.
