any carbon fiber needs?
Noticed on a few threads guys having problems with interior components breaking along with wish list of gauge pods for left hand drive cars. We are a specialty composite shop in metro Atlanta area that until now has done primarily composite race car work. We are now expanding to street and will offer very high quality carbon and/or kevlar components. What do you guys have a need for? or what could be improved? Anything from interior, under hood components to body pieces/wings/spoilers/hoods, doors, etc.
Thanks for your input |
A lot of the interior of the RX-8 is made out of easily broken black plastic. Especially the center console. I'm not sure what your carbon fiber parts can do for it, but if you can replace them with strong parts, I bet you'll find a lot of business here.

carbon fiber
Let me know if there are any pieces in particular.....carbon fiber would look awesome plus as strong as steel with the weight of plastic! So would definitely solve that problem!

How about a carbon fiber heat shield for the K&N Intake?
|
you and I both need that damn part LOL
|
only blk carbon fiber peice i want is the exterior
fender vent. |
fender vent and starkes. ( i would love to see black starks on a yellow) thought about painting them . but not sure black starkes would look good?

I'd like to see how much a carbon fiber replica kit would cost, specifically the INGs and MazdaSpeed, and whether or not it would be lighter.
Basically, anything that using CF would actually save weight on, I'd like to see prices for. Someone has done a hood and said it didn't save much weight, if any. But, would a new trunk save weight? Would a CF replica of the OEM front nose save weight? Stuff like that. More functional than flare, as I would probably paint it anyway. I'm not much into the look of carbon fiber. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Maybe I'll figure some more stuff out later. Oh, a REAL oil pressure gauge would be nice if it would fit where the stock one is now... |
id like to see carbon fiber battery cover and stock intake cover, there already is a heat sheild available but i think its a little to much money...

mhl0521...i will be in ATL today and would like to run a few ideas by you that i have been working on for the interior but because I do not own my stereo shop anymore I don't have ready access to certain items for building out my plans as I used too...I will PM you with my cell if you don't mind calling me...i will be in ATL around 10:30-11 EST 6/10/04...thanks

If you could fabricate a new dash in carbon fiber so I can use a better head unit but keep the hazard switch someplace in the area that would be cool.
Also if you can do the head unit thing, replacements for the audio control on the steering wheel would be cool because they might become useless |
I'm with Kel Rx8 - fender vents.

My vote: CF fender strakes

carbon
thanks for the input....I will keep you updated....we will look into the vents and the strakes and some interior components to start off with. I will also check into the body kits someone mentioned.
Keep the ideas coming |
While we welcome you on the boards, please remember that if you want to advertise anything, you need to contact BOOSTD 7 at advertising@rxtuner.com to register as a forum vendor. Thanks! :)

Yes ... and what would be even more professional would be for BOOSTD 7 to reply to vendors in a timely manner ... been over a week and no response to multiple inquiries.
|
hmmm...looked at regs when I signed up, guess I overlooked??
I have now enquired about forum vendor deal. |
as you said you had some background in racing, so I would like to see some parts made that are actually Lighter than stock pieces. mainly if the rear doors could be made keeping in tact the reinforcement bar, I'd like to see a carbon fiber power plant frame, complete cf rear and underbody diffuser(functional). a complete cf center console and trans tunnel replacement would be awesome. replacement front doors in cf would be good too, any parts where significant weight savings could occur. Of course fitment is a must as most companies that make cf parts for our cars have crappy fitment issues and aren't real cf , just cf skins over fiberglass. cf sunroof cover with polycarbonate glass would be pretty trick too and could save some weight up top too.
