abf body kit

4 Attachment(s)
Just wanted to posts some new pics of the body kit. This is AIT's abf kit. It's a replica of ab flug which I'm sure is a great kit but I didn't get it due to the fact that it was running for about $2700+tax+shipping+a no return policy if I was unsatisfied with the kit. I plan to take some better pictures later as these were with my cell. 1st time posting pictures so don't roast me too bad.

This kit isn't going to get you much love here but props for the change anyway. Now get some wheels, exhaust and a drop to complete the look I don't think it will be half bad.

I'm considering getting a replica rear bumper made by VIS Racing. It seems to be sold with the undertray like the original ABFlug.

lordagrabah 04-07-2010 12:32 AM

I don't expect to get much love. The forum seems to be against the ab flug look but it's all good. I like to be different and it looks better than stock without the appearance package. Lowering is probably not going to happen because I'm terrified about scraping. Also it all about taste but the kit looks so much better in person than in the pictures. I can't explain it or maybe I just suck at taking pictures. I thought the rx8 was ugly until I saw it in person. The VIS kit doesn't come with the under tray I already checked and be prepared to shell out some serious money on getting a replica to fit kinda right.

oh jeez.... i dnt like...

Aipex8 04-07-2010 01:13 AM

I don't like the kit personally, but if you're going to have an extreme kit like that you really need (and I mean NEED) wheels and a drop. The kit should be your last mod, because it just looks silly on stock wheels and suspension.

tiltmode43 04-07-2010 01:29 AM

proper drop + wheels and this setup will be... proper.

lordagrabah 04-07-2010 01:38 AM

Cool, I appreciate the feedback. I'm looking at some wheels now but I don't think I'll drop it. Like I said I'm terrified of scraping.

I think the front will look better without the Mazda badge.

you can at least lower the car some what without fear of scraping. doesn't need to be slammed, just not the truck style like the car comes.

looks like the rear bumper doesnt fit right infirst pic.

either way congrats on the kit, never was my style but congrats either way

Fate710 04-07-2010 11:11 AM

I personally think your car looks like a bag of dicks. That aero is horrible

mscamp02 04-07-2010 11:16 AM

^a little harsh maybe?

chino0314 04-07-2010 11:24 AM

Some 20" chrome wheels will make this really dope.... :suspect:

Jedi54 04-07-2010 03:25 PM

zumn would be proud.

lordagrabah 04-07-2010 04:02 PM

For some reason I can't upload better pics. I just get a message saying upload failed. Any suggestions?

lordagrabah 04-07-2010 04:58 PM

Yeah it does kind of look like a catfish!! That's hilarious. I've always liked this style even though it's too overboard for most. I'm not asking for everyone's approval; I'm just sharing what I have done so far with this project. I am considering some new wheels btw. I would appreciate advice for lowering the car. It seems like I can barely drive it now without scraping. I probably just can't drive. Anyway here are some better pics. As you can see the kit obviously isn't perfect, being a replica, but "it'll" do. Zumn you' my hero!!!

Fate710 04-07-2010 07:58 PM

Still looks like a bag of dicks, but now with a side of AIDS

lordagrabah 04-07-2010 08:29 PM

Oh, I'm sorry Fate that I didn't meet your approval. Maybe next time I'll ask your permission before I take a piss. You sure taught me a lesson.

Fate710 04-07-2010 08:31 PM

Make sure to give me a PM before you do. Always remember to courtesy flush too

c0ldf1ame 04-08-2010 02:22 PM

i've always been a fan of abflug for thier designs on the supra and 300zx but i expected better of them for the rx8, with that said, i think a slight drop wouldnt hurt and some bigger more aggressive rims would flush out the package, since you've chosen possibly the most aggresively designed kit on the market today i'd probably invest in a vented hood and cf trunk also, in your case it really would be go big or go home

mscamp02 04-08-2010 02:34 PM

+1 might as well go for it all the way

a nice set of 9.5 wide rims some tien s techs possibly a siebon ts hood.

lordagrabah 04-08-2010 04:17 PM

Cool. I appreciate that. I'm looking at some 18x8 for the front and some 18x9 in the rear right now. Both have a 38mm offset. I'm not sure what tires I can fit without any issues. I'm thinking a 245/40/18 in the front and a 265/40/18 in the rear. I don't want to worry about rubbing. I just checked out s-tein springs and that looks like a go. Will I be able to make it over speed bumps? I'm too nervous to try now. The seibon hood looks awesome; I saw someone photoshop one with it painted and left the vents carbon fiber so I'm considering that.
