**Mazdaspeed Replica bodykit Installed** pics . . .
2 Attachment(s)
This is the infamous "ebay/$299.99/stay away from" mazdaspeed replica bodykit.
I'll be the first to tell you it's nothing compared to the genuine kit (fiberglass, no predrilled holes, unpainted, must be fitted properly, etc . . .) On the other hand, it was also literally a third of the price of the real thing. I'll also say that the only people that will know that this isn't the real mazdaspeed kit . . . are owners of real mazdaspeed bodykits. My total: bodykit = $300.00 shipping = $130.00 bodykit preparation/fitment = $200.00 bodykit paint and installation = $800.00 TOTAL = $1430.00 So . . . if you know of a very, very . . . very reputable bodyshop, I say save yourself the money and go along with this knock offs if your lookin' for perfection out of the box, get the real thing. I'd definetely prefer the genuine mazdaspeed kit over this kit, but fortunately there's a very respectable bodyshop in the Chicago area and I knew they could pull anything off, no matter how poor of quality the bodykit is. |
wow, $300 of a bodykit escalated to almost $1500 when all was said and done.
|
I live by the saying "you get what you pay for" The car does look awesome though. How much is the Mazdaspeed kit from Mazda?
Do you still have the factory fog lights hooked up? |
Check out www.trussvillemazda.com for pricing on genuine parts. This replica is still way cheaper than using Mazda's parts.
|
what shop did u go to? That looks amazing in what they did.
|
Body-werks is an excellent place for body-werks, but it comes with a price.
Nice 8 congrats. :) |
Looks great. An excellent bargain, despite the hard work.
It has to be said, any kit that isn't OEM is going to need some work, but i guess at least mine came with the holes pre-drilled etc. Thinking of a spoiler / wing ? |
body-werks (www.body-werks.com) in Skokie, IL did my car. I know that a lot of people out of state will bring their car there because they do flawlass jobs on their cars as well as a lot of custom work.
I've shown a lot of people the car, they thought it was the real mazdaspeed kit as well, but then again, I don't think they would have known the difference. I'll try to get more pics and different angles posted up later in the week, anyways, thanks for all the constructive feedback |
are you going to leave it all solid or put the dark grey trim at the bottom?
|
Looks good.
|
That's my favorite look - MS front and sideskirts; no wing. Very aggressive, yet also very classy.

i think the bodyshop might have misplaced my foglights. Maybe they could paint the bottom trim of the kit for me to compensate. Also . . . does anyone know what color the bottom trim of the mazdaspeed kit is, I'm guessing a dark anthracite/gunmetal . . . let me know, thanks.
|
In most of the replicas kits we've worked with or talked about with other shops, they use a typical gunmetal type of color picked out from a book of colors that most shops have.
Unfortunately, most dealers won't give out the code. |
nice Fazdaspeed you got there...hahaha the big difference is the rear valance..seems like every knock off i've seen of the MS kit out there can never get it right...the side skirts sag in the middle and the rear does not fit...but hey if you want to get the knock off go on ahead...

DEEDUBB,
You are one amazing being . . . to be able to critique the backend of the car . . . without the backend even showing in the pic, I guess it's just a gift you were given. "Sagging in the middle" . . .like i said . . . you are just amazing . . . unless straight means sagging now a days, you are right on the money. "Fazdaspeed", please . . . stop it with the jokes, that's hilarious, you're too much. But everyone's entitled to their opinion, or else why would I have even put the pictures up in the first place . . . so go ahead, love it or hate it. |
Ten6teen,
Your RX-8 looks sweet. Unless you mention anything about the body kit not being MS most people wont notice the difference. |

It looks really nice. Most people can't tell the difference. I'd still prefer the real thing. :)

|
as far as the rear goes, its not the installer, its the kit itself...anyway..i want to see the pics!
|
So you would blame MS for a faulty kit too? Like I said, I saw two "Real" MS Kit at SS7 with rears with gaps.
|
to set the record straight . . .
No matter what . . . you have to shave the stock backend for both the genuine mazdaspeed kit and the replica kit. So depending if you shave it too much or too little will change the outcome of how it is fitted. Obviously the replica will have more issues because it's not a perfect fit to begin with. But to shut up DEeDUBBABUBBA, it does matter 'bout the installation as well as the kit. And bout your threatening challenge . . . grow up . . "care to challenge??? post your rear end pics please!! i'll be waiting..." Wow, that is a challenge if I've ever heard one. Oh, let me guess, what's you next reply gonna be . . . "I bet you're too scared to post pics of your backend" . . . or something along the lines of that. So bottomline is . . . 1) DUBBEBUBBE, even though he is the all knowing, bodykit king of the world, he might be wrong in this case. 2) DUBBEBUBBE comes up with awesome rewarding challenges 3) DUBBUBBULA, aside from the bodykit not being painted the proper color (no dark bottom trim) and the Heading of the thread being "Mazdaspeed REPLICA installed . . .", could you honestly say you could tell if it was the real thing or not . . .and if so, what "gave it away"? |
man you guys are getting touchy..its just a knock off were talking about here!...as far as body kits go...i've been through 4 different body kits on 3 different cars..not to mention others that i have worked on...and yes you are right about the installation..it does matter about the installer but you show me where i can see a pic where the knock off kit fits as flush or as close to the "Real" MS kit...I'm just merely telling it how it is...so if your just defending your investment then , by all means! but for others out there i just want to get my point across...btw... you spelled my SN wrong..its XDEEDUBBX ...but i guess you are just too ignorant to see...so enjoy your "replica kit"...hahaha
|
Xdeed.. I think the point was to make fun of your SN... he meant to spell it wrong. :P
I just think people are getting tired of how you come off sometimes. First you rag on someone's replica kit as if they did something stupid. Then you ragged on Devilzero's intake that he made, saying it's not like your Awesome quality HKS intake. I mean, what's the point? |
