Suggestion: Let’s gatherer some MAF data for CZ.

CZ, it’s my understanding from reading various posts that MAF variance from 8 to 8 has been identified as a significant variable in the 8s overall HP output and responsiveness to the CZ mods. The success of your results from thousands of hours of tuning is both impressive and significant when the tuning mods aren't impacted by MAF vairance. So, it seems to me that we need to help you identify the range/extent of the MAF variance from 8 to 8.

I’m guessing one of the problems is that the exact extent of the MAF variance probably isn’t know for sure right now. I mean, how many 8s can one person get their hands on to test? How many need to be tested to figure out the variance range?

If we can gather the data of the MAF range, I would hope that would help in figuring out how to tune for individual 8 MAF variance.

My suggestion:
1. Post a MAF testing procedure that will give you the data you need.
2. Those of us with multi-meters can get them out and post our data by VIN ###xxx.
3. The data gathered could be sorted into definitive range that would be broken up into several sub-ranges e.g. total range is 1-10, Range A would be 1-3, Range B = 4-6, etc.
4. The fuel map mod could be tweaked for several MAF ranges based on the above data.

CZ, I hoping that I haven’t oversimplified this issue. I haven’t seen the RX Tuner article on the MAF issues as I am still waiting for my first issue—I’ve only had my 8 for 3 weeks.

Is the above suggestion feasible and/or helpful?

funny your mentioning this, i was thinking maybe we can send canzoomer our maf sensor along with our computer that way he would have everything he needs .of course this would have to have a fee as time is not free. what do you think maurice or rx8 friend ?

Only if they decide to outsource the manufacturing of the CZ stage 1.1 units. They are really behind on their production schedule (do they have a schedule?) as it is. I'm in Group Buy #2 and no units as of today 8/2/04.

Perhaps there is more $$$ to be made in the service side instead of the manufacturing side. What you think, Maurice, outsource the manufacturing of the units and you handle the servicing aspect?

Muliti Meter Is Not The Tool Needed. You Need To Read The Voltage The Pcm Is Seeing So You Can Adjust From There. Not What The Mafs "thinks" It Is Sending But What The Pcm Is "seeing". For That You Need A Canscanner. Anyone who does take readings please also send them to me. i am working on a project. voltage at idle and voltage at 7k rpm and WOT please. without the cz unit attached. then with the cz attached and off, then with the cz on. send them to me via pm. thanks all.
