Quick DTA / Igntion Coil question.
Hi, after a little trouble with the Microtech unit we're temporarily on a DTAfast ECU.
Now, we've everything wired in but I'm having a little think about the coils, I can't remember if they run inverted trigger or not? The DTAfast is setup as standard to go to infinate resistance on the trigger to signal 'off', but I'm pretty sure the Microtech was setup the other way around, with continuity being the 'off' signal? The only problem is, if I connect it up wrong and crank her up, either the coils or the ECU will get fried! |
The DTA ECU only has one setting for amplified coils, on or off, so I'm guessing that wants to be on?

215whp, in case anyone was interested.
Estimated flywheel was 258bhp. |

Some dodgy sensor pickup flicking readings all over, went back but the replacement was going to take too long to arrive, so we switched to DTA in roder to have it done ready for an event.
Yes, it's still N/A, dyno was a Sun Diagnostics model, from other standard cars running there I'd guess it was about 4-5% over-reading, so I'd figure it at about 245bhp real |
Nice numbers N/A!
Was it the Eccentric Shaft Position Sensor? |
No, it was the temperature sensors - flitting all over the place, checked all the wiring it, tried known good sensors, no dice, so the dyno operator (whom we bought it off) send it straight back, sounded like he'd had that before, or heard of it.
Did do a quick run on his dyno actually up to 6k, to make sure the engine/installation was OK (had quite a lot of oil in rotors and stock manifold - which was concerning), where it made 166bhp at the wheels, that was on a Rototest hub dyno. Went somewhere else for a full map due to time issues. |
Oh, quick note for anyone considering DTA - we should have a solution that can run the motor on the auxilary ports within a week.

My Air Intake Temperature sensor reading from the OBDII port is way off with the Interceptor-X. Mazsport sells one that plugs into the Interceptor tho.

Water and Air intake temps.
Yes, you can program them for RPM or MAP, from an analogue or an input signal, or combination of each, or by what you had for breakfast that particular day. Think we may go back on a hub dyno for a power run just to get a perfect ATW figure when we have chance, the high-angle CV joints tend to sap power when strapped down, they get very warm on rollers. |
Is this an S80?
|
Yes, S80 Pro.
