I've searched...
I have searched this forum and online and can not seem to find an answer to the question(s) that I have. Looking for some insight.
If fueled properly, what is the maximum redline an Renesis can take? I have heard the Star Mazda cars run up over the 10K range. Anyone run their car above the stock redline? Ultimately, if this is possible, my thought is to go shorter in the final drive than the '10 RX-8 (possibly a 5.x rear end) to amp up the acceleration and torque, and then have the extra revs in the usable part of the powerband. 'preciate any insight! |
most RX-8's begin to lose power at the top of their RPM band so raising the redline won't necessarily help you.
do a quick search for my dyno day results thread and you'll see a constant pattern. As far as who has run it higher? We put Charles R. Hill's car on the dyno last year and using the AccessPORT we raised the redline to his car and he did a pull all the way to 10,000 rpms. I believe there's a video on youtube, let me see if I can find it. |
^^^ You find it Jedi??? I wanta see it...
OP: Your just going to be wasting fuel above 9K rpms... Max power is 8.5K, fuelcut off is at 9.5K to give you space to help gearing |
Thanks
Thank you for the intelligent input! I 'preciate it greatly. If anyone else wants to sound off, still love to hear other arguments as well!

No point revving any higher than 8.5k like what others had mentioned, save your money and get a hairdryer and tune it.
