Intake Mani Swap

Flame if you want but is it possible to change the 4 port upper and lower intake manifolds with the 6 ports?

RX8Soldier 12-26-2011 12:32 AM

with enough time, money and knowledge, anything can be done...

roddymerritt 12-26-2011 12:37 AM

Ok so is this a direct bolt on replacement?

Highway8 12-26-2011 12:45 AM

I am going to say it can not be done. You would need to do a motor swap, which is not exactly easy. The 4 port only has 4 ports, the 6 port has 6 ports. Where would the additional 2 ports go??????

I dont know the design of the 4 port (never cared), but the 6 port has 2 ports in the front iron for the front rotor, 2 ports in the center iron 1 for the front which makes a total of 3 and 1 for the rear rotor. The rear iron has 2 ports for the rear rotor.

I imagine the 4 port has 1 less port in the front and rear iron, or no ports in the center iron.

Okay I'll flame. Your a lazy noob. Why don't you read up. Can you put an Edelbrock Chevy 454 manifold on a Chevy V-6?

Ha go ahead but it hasn't been addressed. No one has ever covered if this could be done. I figured there were probably two less ports but I wanted to be certain.

Uhm so does anyone know if this is true?

Why don't you read up on the mechanical differences of a 4 port versus a 6 port and figure it out instead of asking everyone to spoon feed you? Once you do, you will realize how stupid your question is.

I have a honda Motorcycle but I keep falling over so I want to put 2 more tires on it. A civics tires look about the same size. Can I bolt them on to my motorcycle? Are they a direct fit?

roddymerritt 12-26-2011 01:14 AM

I have read, anyway. I understand the difference between the motors. What I'm asking about are the manifolds. http://www.google.com/search?q=mazda...w=1024&bih=672

roddymerritt 12-26-2011 01:15 AM

Looks like its just a porting difference to me

No you don't understand the difference.

Injectors, wiring, ECU and probably a lot more. Here is the thing, the additional ports are not needed and wouldnt even help an automatic because you cant rev all the way to 9K due to the transmission.

Either way, I am done. All the information and answers the OP is seaking have already been given and were already readily available elsewhere.

Thanks for nothing. I found what I was looking for else where. Geez it took 3 hours. Seems like someone could have posted this "readily available information." but I guess it's easier to argue and complain than to actually. I see forums haven't changed much in the past few years.

I find that a great part of the information I have was acquired by looking up something and finding something else on the way. - Franklin P. Adams
It's kinda the way it works.

TeamRX8 12-26-2011 08:53 AM

Of course it took three hours because that's how every clueless inexperienced babe in the woods starts out. Nobody ever achieved a level of competency by having everything handed to them on silver platter. It would have taken me a few minutes, if that, to find it (except in this particular case I learned it along the way a long time ago).

I could write a whole page listing the techniques and phrasing that make a search more effective, which could then be made into a Sticky thread locked at the top of every forum category here and people like yourself will blow right past it without a second thought. People being clueless and then getting thumped for making a clueless mess is just the building block of life in internet forum land.

thank you for your contribution in keeping that phase of the process alive and well, again there will always be a certain part of human society that goes through kicking and screaming about how hard life is rather than digging in and accepting the inevitability of the situation.

Ps: now that you know the answer don't you even feel a little bit stupid for starting a thread to ask the original question?

Just do some more searching for yourself, this site is filled with smart A@# holes!

Its true, if you've been around for any amount of time you'd know by now that its much easier to take a little time to look it up for your self rather than deal with people telling you that you are stupid for asking. It IS easier and a lot more gratifying when you figure it out.
