Idle Control WIth Interceptor-X/Microtech
 

How is the idle controlled with the Interceptor-X. Since it only controls fuel and timing, my guess is the stock computer still has some control for idle. Since you can't just adjust a screw since the throttle is electronic, it must be controlled by the stock PCM.

I'm assuming their is some idle air adder controlled by the stock PCM. The Interceptor-X has a few settings for this but I don't think they were hooked up as they don't seem to have an effect. The only settings that affected anything were the A/C enrich and A/C timing add.

Basically I'd like to have different idles for normal, electrical load, and A/C. Would going into the stock PCM allow me to do this or is there something I'm missing in the Microtech to activate those air adder features?

On another note, found out the wastegate springs that were installed in the wastegate out of the box were set to 14 PSi. I had to raise my fuel cut from 13 PSi to 15 PSi. I changed the wastegate springs until I got what I wanted though, 8 PSi and the boost controller can take care of the rest.

lol, I see. I got the idle stable with no load on it. Turning on the lights, its stable 90% of the time but when you through the A/C in the mix it goes from 880 to 1100 every 5 seconds or so. It's really not that bad, the car runs fine, its just cycling idle RPM. Its not abrupt or anything, its very smooth.

Well, I can make it 100% stable if I make it run in the 11's but thats not the correct way to go about it. I'd like to raise the idle a touch when A/C is turned on or raise the idle by a hair if lights are turned on if theres a way to do it.

Do you mean making it run rich to solve problems? The idle is really close, it just needs some touching up but I'm not familiar enough with the RX-8 to know how to go about it. I won't give up :P

Well, I realized what is causing the bouncing idle. Its as the A/C cycles on and off, is when it bounces. But after the bounce and it comes back down, its stable until the A/C cycles again.

I had a talk with the owner today and he said the idle bounced with the stock computer as well with the A/C on. Is it normal to do that?
