Hypertech Powertune
 

Is anyone familiar with this? I heard about it this weekend at a car meet and it works like the Cobb but it is just a basic tune for stock cars or ones with just intake and exhaust. I was just wondering if anyone was familiar?

It doesn't really work like a Cobb in every major way and no one has really ever reviewed it. With a Cobb the ability of custom tuning (for power, reliability, convenience) is possible with software from Cobb and a Cobb Authorized tuner (even then very few can tune an 8 with it).

That said, I have been wanting someone to take the plunge and get on the dyno to see how hypertech's tune is because they are a very reputable company. There is one review here somewhere but no data to back anything up.

I bought a Hypertech a couple years ago for my Mazda 6. It was a very mild tune and didn't really feel much different to me vs stock. The programmer basically asks you if you want to tune with 87 octane or 91 octane, if you want to increase your rev limiter by 500 RPM, and if you want to remove the speed limiter. Other than that, there are no customizable options. For the price, the Cobb is a much better deal. Plus, if you download the accesstuner race program, you get a way to customize your tune yourself. Just using Accesstuner Race on a very basic level, I was able to decrease my 0-60 times by 0.9 seconds. Not bad at all!
