Good tuners in nyc area ?

Hello and thanks to all in advance.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good tuner shop which either specializes in, or has the knowledge to properly tune RX-8 s in the New York City Area. I checked the older forums and saw a few names but when I researched them on the web they all came up nil.

My goal is to not create a beast but to achieve maximum performance and maybe a little extra pep from an otherwise stock engine with a few soon to be bolted on items: like high performance exhaust system, cold air intake, and upgraded radiator/cooling fans. I've already installed new coil overs, and upgrading to slotted rotors and steel mesh brake lines (I've already added ceramic pads, awesome). All ignition coils, lines, and plugs are relatively new, as is battery, and other minor bits, and the engine has been de-carbed and is very clean. New rubber all around, overall a very well maintained auto inside and out. Original owner, 2005 with only 40K miles on it.

Once again, I know this question has been asked awhile ago and checked the older threads, but places do come and go and if anyone has some good current information I would be deeply appreciative.
Much thanks to all.

Tuning what? What device are you using to tune? Cobb? or standalone, Adaptronic/etc?? Theres not too many who tune rx8s around NYC. You may be able to find a general tuning shop who can tune Cobb. Such as EFIlogics but I'm not too sure if they'll be fluent with rotary tuning.

If you're willing to travel and have a Cobb Dave at Speed1 in Allentown does dyno tuning of Cobb. Formerly known as KDR.

unless you lost power by installing any of those Items that is really no power to be gained from tuning. The real benefits are from a little more reliability and being ablt to trouble shoot problems much better.

Thanks for the reply. I Myself would never attempt to use any "off the shelf" device to try to tune the car myself. Admittedly not that knowledgeable, which is why I am looking for a pro. I have the cold air intake on, and no power loss, it "feels" like there may have actually been a slight power bump, but it could just be my own perception. I have yet to install the exhaust and better radiator/fan setup. If you believe I should just leave things as they are with and computer tune, then I'll go with that. I'd rather keep things as they are then screw up a perfectly functioning auto. Thanks again!

Look into R/T Tuning ? Dyno Tuning & Engine Performance Specialists | Philly Area Speed Shop & Dyno Tuning Experts.

Or search on Cobb's website

Its a long haul from NYC but I guess I could do a 2 day overnighter and call it a mini vacation :D I did look at the Cobb site and found three shops close by so hoping they can do something as Id rather not have to travel 100 miles! Thanks again for all your help!

Yes that is exactly what I am looking to do. Im not expecting nor looking to turn it into a beast, just looking to maximize on current configuration and make sure she is running at top performance specs. Thanks for advice

Hey thanks for this. I looked them up on the web, and they do quote they can do autos so I will give them a shout today. Will have to figure out the logistics if I use them however,as it is a trek. But I like that they do it all, as I do have a few minor body items I'd like looked after too. really appreciate the heads up and all the best to you as well.
