COBB Tuning AccessPort!

HEY ALL! I just wanted to make sure all of my AT brothers were aware that the COBB Tuning will be releaseing an Access Port tuner for our beloved 8 in the 1st quarter of next year. They have confirmed that it will be compatible with the AT!!! Good news for us! I have listed the link below; check out the posting under AccessPort...pretty cool! :wiggle:

Yep...i've posted in that thread a lot...I'm definatly getting it (ive got a 6-speed though)

Racing Beat has spent years trying to do this same thing. They have publically said it cannot support boost and gains NA are small.

I have so many questions about this box, and it doesn't appear they've done any testing with FI. Using the stock MAF sensor alone is very risky with boost. They seem to be making alot of implications about a boosted rx8 based on their experience with WRX's...BIIIIG difference there on countless levels.

Correct me if im wrong, but trey(?) cobb used to work for rotary performance, and i believe is in charge of this project... so im sure he knows what its capable of

I dont think we'll see one for FI, since there would be no standards for FI for the rx8. The money that would go in test every turbo kit out there, they may not end up in the black finicially.

I am hoping for a small maybe 10hp gain, a small mpg gain, and the security features the cobb accessport.

Not sure if he was part of 'Rotary Performance', but it appears he is the head of this project (as he is the one posting all the information.)

It was either Rotary Performance or Petit... and i guess it wasn't Petit now

There will probably be no specific map for FI (unless someone is going to partner with them), but they are going to be teaming up with rotary shops around the country that can use the street tuner software to dyno tune your Accessport for your setup.

Whats the downside - actually being able to know engine load and fuel requirements based on an actual sensor instead of guessing at it with a VE curve and a map sensor? Or are you worried about the lack of a PSSST sound because of needing a recirculated BOV? They can also run any maf sensor they wish since they can recalibrate the curves in the ecu...

the EVO only has a maf sensor... seems to work

whoah there epi- where did they say that? RB is not going to put out an FI kit but they have never said that the stock PCM properly programmed couldnt handle FI . It clearly can and they have said as much to me in regards to how much the stock MAF can handle flow wise without being recalibrated and how much power they have seen with stock injectors and upgraded ones. in fact i had conversations with Damien, a former tuner there before he left to go work at Mazda on theCX-7, about how he recalibrated the maps for the SCd white car for over 200%volumetric efficiency and did similar maps for the TCd blue car as well
