Cobb ATR

Stupidly I formatted my old hard drive and lost my copy of ATR and Cobb doesn't seem to have the rx8 accesstuner race software on their website anymore without the tuning school thing. Does anyone have the program they'd be willing to share?
Car is 2004 manual transmission

Do you know if that's the relevant part of the installer? I mean, during installation you have to connect the AP, so some checking is required on the installer. Do you know if the installer is coded to the specific AP, or if it just pairs the software/generated maps?

AFAIK it is coded to the serial number of the AP.

I was under the same impression, but haven't tested to find out with someone else's installer

I need to go back and check. There is a procedure that will allow you to open and use the Cobb AccessTuner program without having the Cobb AP connected. You can make or modify tunes on it, but I think you do still need a linked AccessTuner program/device to import the tune and save it to have it install in your serial# AP and ECU

Using that procedure lets you run AccessTuner on the current version of Windows. I used it to tune for other people easily, but again I'm pretty sure they still needed to open the tune in their serial # linked Tuner program (running older Windows by virtual machine or on a special laptop/computer since AP Manager won't work from W8.1 on), then save it, which it then linked that tune to upload on their AP for downloading into the ECU. So it isn't going to get around that part of it afterall.

I had the forethought to order and save a copy of AT for every S1 year/trans version, but they're all linked to my specific AP device so I don't think that's going to help anyone else unless that part of the code can be found and modified.

.

At least you have the copies for your transmission. I was looking into decompiling the code, but it's written in c++, a language I am not well versed in and one that is very difficult/time consuming to try and decompile in order to piece together what's going on.

You can get it again, contact them. You will have to take a course, long story, they will tell you about it, and then the software is free. They do not sell the course.

Well the idea was since I know my SN that looking specifically for it might make it easier, but that depends how encrypted it may or may not be

I didn't pull the installer apart, but I got a tool to pull the ATR .exe file apart, and also knowing my serial I set about looking for authentication. I didn't get a whole lot of time to look at it, and it was still pretty difficult trying to figure out what was going when C++ only decompiles to machine code.

I found some copies of ATR for the mazdaspeed3 and WRX and i can open those and it looks like i can edit tunes but unfortunately not rx8 tunes so im not sure if the program is specifically linked to an accessport.

It's still not going to work unless someone can hack it, each ATR program that Cobb sent is locked to a serial number.

Yeah, I forgot about that. FWIW the only SN that appear are the last two, in my case 44. I would assume however, that the whole SN is loaded into the software.
