Cobb AP Question for MazdaManiac

Hello,

I hope this hasn't been asked before, but I couldn't find anything with the search. I would like to purchase the accessport from mazdamaniac, but I don't really need the car custom tuned. All I really want to do is use the AP manager to increase the OMP rates a bit, increase the idle, and lower the coolant turn on temperatures. What further complicates the issue is that I have the 6 port 6 speed automatic transmission which Cobb does not have a baseline file for. I'm not sure how I should go about this and could really use some advice. Thank you!

I guess this is what I would like to know. Is there a way to pull my stock map out of my stock ECU so I can modify a few values and reload it on the ecu using AP? If not, can the 2006 manual transmission COBB map be used on the 6 speed automatic? I would really appreciate any advice.

You can get the AccessTuner Race software from Cobb, which will allow you to mess with the stuff yourself. Make sure you know what you're doing.

So to update this thread, I wanted to let you guys know what I've found. First of all, thank you NgoRX8 for your suggestion and post. For those of us with automatic transmissions (or even manual transmissions for that matter), if you are interested in using the Cobb AP for modifying tables and values, but do not need the MazdaManiac tune, you can purchase the Cobb AP and sign up for the AccessTuner Race software. On the download page for ATR, you specify the year and transmission of your RX8 and Cobb sends you the program to edit the maps along with a stock map for that year and transmission RX8. This is great because you can play around with what is essentially the factory maps from Mazda, transcribed by Cobb. I hope this helps anybody who is looking to play with a stock map, but is unable to gain access to one otherwise.

most people here wouldn't have the first clue what to do with the Race Tuner software and anyone looking to "play around" with maps for our cars needs to proceed with EXTREME caution because if you do not fully understand the intricacies of engine management tuning then you could easily blow your motor.

OMP, idle, fan tables... If you know how to set the clock on your microwave, you probably won't blow your motor messing with those.

The availability of the accessTuner race software has been known since the AP was released for the RX8.

There are several huge threads about the AP as well as MazdaManiac's service in the tuning section of the forum which I would highly suggest reading.
